Social experiments are back in the spotlight on youtube, The Youtube Channel Luxury Pranks

has absolutely blown up recently for their series of videos Called Catching A Child Predator.

Even though the videos on luxury pranks make them seem like the heroes of tiktok, theres

actually something else going on here.

What is good this is inform overload, my names charlotte, I’m the main host on this channel,

and on inform overload we cover news that you actually want to hear about.

Luxury Pranks has been completely blowing up lately on youtube.

At the time of this recording, they have 1.1 million subscribers.

And that’s largely to do with the recent social experiment series that they are milking

to the fullest extent, catching a child predator.

They are somewhat taking advantage of the app TikTok and its serious child predator

problem.

If you’re unaware about all of this, I did a story on it a few days ago, that’s clickable

on the screen right now if you’re interested.

But in a nutshell, tiktok is a sess pool filled with underage kids making cringy lip sync

videos, child predators, and trolls.

Definitely a recipie for disaster.

It seems that a Tik Toks reputation has become one big internet joke, but it’s a joke that

honestly isn’t that funny especially when children are being put at risk.

Luxury Pranks videos follow the same format.

They set up a fake tiktok profile where an actor poses as a child under the age of 18.

They invite the supposed child predator to the set, where hidden cameras are watching

the encounter.

They let the actors act out some pretty cringy scenarios, sometimes leading up to some sort

of assault, before the crew comes out of hiding to tell the child predator they have been

very naughty.

But that’s it.

They just let the ‘predator’ go.

And the rest of us are just sitting there like seriously?

You just caught a potential child abuser and you’re just going to let him walk away?

Aw hell naw.

So that’s what gave it away for me.

Luxury Pranks doesn’t ever call the police on these child predators.

Which im sorry, if you really do want to catch a child predator you would call the goddamn

police and put them in jail so that no other child has to ever deal with them.

LuxuryPranks didn’t call the police because they hired an actor to play the role of the

predator.

No crime was actually committed.

But in an effort to make ‘educational’ videos about talking to strangers online,

Luxury pranks left out one very very important lesson.

If these pranks aren’t staged, they literally witnessed a potentially violent scenario where

someone could have been seriously hurt, and they didn’t call the police.

Reporting dangerous predators is already something that isn’t done enough.

When you encounter a predator online, most people kind of just shrug them off and block

them and carry on with their days.

But If you ever encounter a dangerous predator online, you should do something about it.

Show your parents, Report them, either to the app, or the police.

If you don’t, they are just going to keep dming kids until one of them is inexperienced

enough to talk to them.

I guess there is some entertainment value in these staged pranks.

An unsuspecting kid might see a video like this and delete tik tok immediately, or be

much more cautious about the next time they talk to a stranger online.

OR, theres the other route, where they could see how much attention and money luxurypranks

is getting from their series, think that its real, and then try to film their own version

of catching a child predator.

Except they invite a real child predator to their house.

Not good.

And if they were real child predators, they could be armed and dangerous.

A group of young youtubers putting themselves at risk like this just isn’t in the cards.

Unlike other social experiements that are staged, There is no indication in any of the

description of luxury pranks videos that hints at the fact that they are fake.

There is a disclaimer in the description, but all it says is ‘these videos are produced

with the intent to spread awareness.

Do not try to recreate any of the acts you see, as they are extremely dangerous’.

Like ok yeah the word acts is in there, but nothing that transparently says that the videos

are staged.

Yes, they might be made to spread awareness, but Luxury Pranks is blatantly manipulating

their fan base into thinking that they are heroes, when really all they are doing is

hiring bad craigslist actors, blurring out their faces, filming awkward scenarios and

posting them to youtube.

At least the blurring of the faces conceals the bad acting am I right.

Point is, luxury pranks is exploiting real victims of child predatory behaviour because

it generates clicks and views and yeah it can be shocking but they could also be encouraging

kids to create their own social experiements, which would actually contribute to the whole

child predator problem that they say they are trying to spread awareness about.

Oh yeah, and to top it all off, I almost forgot Luxurypranks is using tutorage as a sponsor.

You know, the website that allows you to hire people to write your assignments for you?

Yeah.

Really setting a good example there guys.
