The Secrets of the Terrestrial and Celestial Spirits

Dear friends, for a long time, people have been under the impression that there is only one soul in every human being.

Until today, the secret of how many souls are in the human body was not disclosed to people.

Contrary to popular belief, a human being is a compound of many spirits.

Prophet Mohammad said, 'I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate.'

Ali was declared by Prophet Mohammad to be the door to knowledge.

Ali said, 'O man, you have an entire universe enclosed within you, but you are unaware of it.'

Friends, what universe was Ali referring to?

When God created man, he enclosed in him two types of souls.

One category is known as Terrestrial Spirits and the other is Celestial Spirits. Celestial Spirits are auxiliary spirits; God put them in human beings only.

After death, the [enlightened] Celestial Spirits return to the higher realms while the Terrestrial Spirits, along with the Lower Self, remain in this world.

Life is the combining of these elements. Death is to separate them.

The Terrestrial Spirits

There are three types of Terrestrial Spirits:

The Mineral Spirit, the Botanical Spirit and the Bio Spirit.

The entire system of the universe is based upon these three Terrestrial Spirits. The [existence of life] relates to the Terrestrial Spirits.

Most people think that life relates to that soul in them that God sends down from the higher realms. However, this is not the case.

Have you ever wondered: how will the mountains float like feathers on the Day of Judgement [as the Koran declares]?

Mountains and stones have Mineral Spirits.

The Mineral Spirit binds atoms together.

In the Koran 78:20, God says, 'On that Day, the mountains will float like feathers.'

How will huge mountains float like feathers?

They will float because God will extract the Mineral Spirits from them.

And with the extraction of the Mineral Spirit, the power binding the mountains together will also be taken out.

As a result, huge mountains will float like feathers.

Many people prefer to live among the mountains.

This is in their nature due owing to them having a strong Mineral Spirit.

It is due to the Mineral Spirit in human beings that they made homes out of stones.

Trees, plants, grass, etc. have Botanical Spirits in them.

The fundamental job of the Botanical Spirit is growth.

Trees, along with having Botanical Spirits, also have Mineral Spirits.

People develop diseases such as cancer when their Botanical Spirits become weak.

Because the nurturing and growth of cells stops [when cancer grows].

Some people have a fondness for flowers and trees owing to their Botanical Spirits being strong.

It is due to the Botanical Spirit that human beings made roofs out of wood.

The Bio Spirit is found in animals.

Along with the Bio Spirit, animals have Botanical Spirits and Mineral Spirits also.

Due to the dominance of the Bio Spirit, human beings have affection for animals and they may act like animals.

The Celestial Spirits

Besides the Terrestrial Spirits in the human body, the Celestial Spirits play a very important role. They are responsible for human instincts in man.

Along with the Terrestrial Spirits, God granted human beings auxiliary Celestial Spirits.

There are five subtleties in the chest and one at the forehead.

The five senses relate to the five subtleties of the chest.

Their names [from left to right] are: the Qalb (Spiritual Heart), the Sirri (Secret), the Akhfah (Obscure), Khafi (Arcane) and the Rouh (Main Soul).

God granted each of five Grand Messengers knowledge of the five subtleties of the chest respectively.

Adam the Eminent One was given the prophethood and knowledge of the Qalb (Spiritual Heart).

Abraham was given the knowledge of the Rouh (Main Soul).

Moses was granted the knowledge and prophethood relating to the Sirri (Secret).

Jesus Christ was given the knowledge and prophethood of the Khafi (Arcane).

And then, in the end, Prophet Mohammad was sent by God with the prophethood and knowledge of the Akhfah (Obscure).

The subtleties were created 70 000 years before God created the souls with the Command 'Be'.

The Qalb (Spiritual Heart) was kept at the Station of Love for some period of time. Through the Qalb, man becomes connected with God.

Prophet Mohammad said, 'O Sons of Adam, there is a piece of flesh in your body...'

'...if it is reformed, the entire body is reformed...remember well: it is your heart.'

Dalil (divine reasoning) and divine revelation are sent to the Qalb.

And your worship reaches the Divine Empyrean through the Qalb as well.

Friends, you must have heard about the concept of reincarnation in Hinduism.

However, they too have incomplete knowledge in this matter.

People take more interest in the religion when they know the scientific reasoning behind religious practices.

They need to know, 'Does God want us to do this for the sake of it, or is there something to gain by adopting these practices?'

When a human being dies, his Rouh (Main Soul) returns to the Realm of Souls in the higher realms.

The body and the Lower Self remain in the grave.

The angels collect the Terrestrial Spirits.

When a baby is [being formed in the womb], the angels use the Terrestrial Spirits in the process.

This is what is known as reincarnation.

The Terrestrial Spirits are recycled and used to form new bodies.

Whereas the Celestial Spirits are confined to one body only.

The Terrestrial Spirits have nothing to do with the Day of Judgement.

If the Terrestrial Spirits had anything to do with the Day of Judgement, then mountains, trees and animals would also be held accountable on the Day of Judgement.

The Celestial Spirits have to do with the Day of Judgement and it is the Celestial Spirits that will be held accountable.

Dear friends, you must have heard that in Sharia, if a baby is stillborn, a funeral is not necessary.

This is because the Celestial Spirits - which make a human being - had not yet entered the baby.

You must have seen cases where babies were born disabled.

They are mentally disabled.

And they cannot speak coherently either.

They are the people who were born without Celestial Spirits. They are living due to the presence of the Terrestrial Spirits in them.

Man's ability to comprehend and think relates to the subtlety of Ana [in the forehead].

The eyes' ability to see relates to the subtlety of Sirri.

The subtlety of Akhfah is responsible for one's ability to speak.

There have been many cases in medical science where the patient's tongue is completely functional, yet, they are unable to speak.

This is because they are missing the subtlety of Akhfah, which allows one to speak.

The Koran says that human beings that do not engage in God's invocation are like animals.

Here, God was not referring to the verbal invocation of his name.

Rather, he was referring to the invocation done by the Celestial Spirits.

Because Terrestrial Spirits are in human beings and animals alike.

However, man is known as 'the greatest of all creation' due to the presence of the Celestial Spirits in him.

Through the Celestial Spirits, he can love God and obtain God's nearness.

Through these Celestial Spirits, man can access the higher realms.

And through them, he can reach the Empyrean of God.

The Celestial Spirits in your body can stay alive without sustenance for up to 40 years.

If the Celestial Spirits die in the body and the man is living simply because of the Terrestrial Spirits in him, then there is no difference between him and an animal.

Because both animals and human beings have Terrestrial Spirits.

Human beings have eminence due to the auxiliary Celestial Spirits in him.

Perhaps it was with this in mind that the great poet, Allama Iqbal said:

'I love the youngsters who can access the stars.'
