    and gastro intestinal diescorders.

  • 00:14

So many people have ths condition and just don't know it.

  • 00:19

    Why?

  • 00:20

Because they are never checked for it.

  • 00:21

Diastasis recti does not only affect women who have had a baby.

  • 00:25

Pregnancy is not the only cause of diastasis.

  • 00:27

There are many causes of diastasis.

  • 00:29

Although pregnancy and childbirth do make the condition worse.

  • 00:34

    Diastasis can affect anyone.

  • 00:35

Women who have not had a baby, men and children.

  • 00:38

Other causes are exercing wrong, having surgery where the inject your belly with air and just

  • 00:44

gaining weight in the abdominal area.

  • 00:50

The great news is that It is never to late to close a diastasis no matter how you got

  • 00:56

it or how long you have had it.

  • 01:03

Once you know you have it you should treat it right away.

  • 01:06

Understand that it gets larger as you age, with each pregnancy and if you exercise incorrectly.

  • 01:17

The larger the diastasis the the longer it will take to close.

  • 01:25

The larger your diastasis the worse your side effects from a diastasis become.

  • 01:33

Treating diastasis recti is all about healing the weak and stretched out connective tissue.

  • 01:41

Healing the connective tissue is what brings the separated muscles together.

  • 01:49

My Tupler Technique® Program is both research and evidnece based.

  • 01:54

    The program is 4 steps.

  • 01:57

The philosophy of the program boils down to three things:

  • 02:05

    1.

  • 02:06

Repositioning both the connective tissue and the muscles by wearing the Diastasis Rehab

  • 02:13

    Splint.

  • 02:14

Continuously wearing a splint takes the stretch off the stretched out connective tissue and

  • 02:26

keeping it in a narrow position.

  • 02:34

It is the same concept of healing a broken bone.

  • 02:39

You must wear the cast all the time so the two ends of the bone will fuse together.

  • 02:47

Positioning of the muscles is just as important as positioning of the connective tissue.

  • 02:55

In order for the muscles to move in the right direction, front to back they must be close

  • 03:10

    together.

  • 03:11

If you have a diastasis of 4 fingers or more, when you engage the muscles they will move

  • 03:18

    sideways.

  • 03:19

A sideways movement will not strengthen the muscles it will stretch the connective tissue.

  • 03:27

To strengthen a muscle it must get shorter and that is the front to back movement.

  • 03:46

Double splinting istarted in week 4 of my program when tva stregnth and awareness has

  • 03:50

    been established.

  • 03:51

which is wearing one or two splints and holding another splint.

  • 03:57

The one you hold can be a scarf or the arms of your jacket or sweater.

  • 04:00

This is started in week 4 of the program after abdominal strengthn and awareness has been

  • 04:13

    established.

  • 04:14

In week 4 of the program we also start taping the belly above and below the belly

  • 04:49

button with our TogetherTape We preapre the skin with my Corrective Connective itssue

  • 04:58

    cream.

  • 04:59

This cream also has ingredients that nourish the connective tissue.

  • 05:06

    2.

  • 05:09

Protect the "stretched out" connective tissue from getting stretched forwards or sideways.

  • 05:23

Preventing the forwards movement is the awareness to hold

  • 05:46

the tVA ( innermost or core muscle) in before you move.

  • 05:55

You use your transverse with every move you make and every breath you take.

  • 06:09

So if you don't engage it it will be moving forward

  • 06:23

putting force on the connective tissue, stretching it and not allowing it to heal.

  • 06:39

An abdominal facing down position also causes this forward stretching.

  • 06:43

Preventing a sideways stretch are caused by movements that flare your ribs when you arch

  • 06:55

your back or a forward crossover movements with your upper body.

  • 07:07

    3.

  • 07:08

Strengthening both the abdominal muscles and the connective tissue.

  • 07:21

Once the muscles are close together and the connective tissue is in a narrow position,

  • 07:35

the seated Tupler Technique® exercises put tension on the connective tissue.

  • 07:44

This backwards tension is what strengthens the connective tissue.

  • 08:38

The program progresses over 18 weeks.

  • 08:42

You may not close your diastasis in 18 weeks.

  • 08:50

How long it takes depends on the severity of your diastasis and your committment to

  • 08:56

all 4 steps of the program.

  • 09:00

During the first six weeks it is important to

  • 09:13

allow the connective tissue to heal and your start developing transverse strength and awareness.

  • 09:28

So no exercise classes or sporting activities.

  • 09:42

Just walking outside or on a treadmil, upright sstationar bike or eliptical machine.

  • 09:52

In week 6 once you have TVA strenth and awarness you learn how to incorporate the Tupler Technique®

  • 10:04

into an exercise routine so it is diastasis safe.

  • 10:06

Please take before photos of your belly from front and side to motivate you in sticking

  • 10:14

    with the program.

  • 10:15

Many people do the program on their own with the products.
