hello friends welcome to Gardening with Creekside I am Jenny and today we are

back with our weekly Nursery updates for those of you that have been following us

we have taken a two-week time off some rest and relaxation we were able to go

to the beach for a period of time and then we came back and did some projects

around the house and the nursery and we are rested and rejuvenated and happy to

be back and it is July so happy July we're back here at the nursery things

are in bloom and gorgeous so July that is when all your flowering shrubs I mean

everything should be really kind of in its glory right now speaking of in her

glory this is Bobo Bobo is a fantastic petite hydrangea from proven winners it

is a panicle hydrangea so if you will notice the blooms are more kind of a

cone shaped instead of the traditional round mop head Bobo is great and it is

Hardy in zones 3 through 8 so we of course here at the nursery North

Carolina right here are a zone 7b so we're very close to that zone 8 so if

you are in our area I would recommend that you put this in an area where it

gets Morning Sun and afternoon shade because this can do Sun two part Sun

which means it has to have at least at a minimum that for 4 4 or 5 hours of

direct sunlight so for us because we get so hot if you can put it where it gets a

little afternoon shade it would do great now the dimensions on Bobo are that it

is wider than it is tall so it's gonna be about 3 feet tall by 4 feet wide it's

a great addition anywhere in your landscape you could do a hedge of these

you could do them as a specimen a highlight plant in your landscape if you

have a really large container you could put it in a container very versatile

because it's a panicle it blooms on new growth which we love because we can trim

it if you need to shape it up you're guaranteed blooms every single year but

you just cannot beat this gorgeous creamy white bloom on Bobo absolutely

love this hydrangea so I mean hydrangeas right now I could sit here and do a

video just don't hydrangeas because they're also gorgeous right now so Bobo

is great we also have come over here this is little quickfire I love little

quickfire again it's another proven winners hydrangea it is a panicle little

quickfire is neat because it starts out a creamy white and then it will take on

these pink hues the zones because I know y'all are all asking about zones again

is a three through eight and it will be three to five feet tall and wide there

is a quick-fire same plant but on a large much larger

scale is kind of like lime light and little lumps and speaking of a lime

light and little limes they too are coming in to all of their glory and

speaking of this this is a lime light tree standard form

is the technical terms for it but it is a limelight hydrangea that has been

pruned over the years to be a tree has all the great characteristics of that

limelight hydrangea blooms on new growth so you're guaranteed blooms every year

there's things flying around my head creamy white blooms that will turn a

little pink in the fall this is fantastic if you have a flower bed where

you just need a little bit of height but you don't want a full size tree we have

people put them on the side of their house again if you don't want a massive

tree you can do the lime light tree very easy simple got to have the Sun at least

six hours of Sun and lime lights are Hardy and zones three through nine so

they're perfect I've grown lime lights for years they are reliable and gorgeous

I mean you can't beat this absolutely stunning love it we do have some of the

a strawberry sundae I always get them mixed up strawberry sundae hydrangeas

again this is a fantastic hydrangea it's another panicle can you tell we

love panicles because panicles give us blooms every single year you can prune

them they come back gorgeous again that creamy white it'll turn to pink so

you'll get a variation on the bloom of pink and white hints strawberry sundae

the size on these guys is 4 to 5 tall 3 to 4 wide so it's gonna be a little

taller than it is wide I have one of these at the entrance to the nursery

first year and she is covered in blooms just gorgeous

alright white wedding this is a beautiful one this is a Southern Living

plant get her up here on my hip there's the tag so Jerry can zoom in on it it's

gonna be 4 to 6 feet tall 3 to 5 feet wide hardy in zones 3 through 9 B so

that is fantastic nice and Hardy for us I just love look how fat those blooms

are such a gorgeous hydrangea so so pretty again it is a panicle hydrangea

so just panicles are great especially here in the south we love these pinnacle

hydrangeas so if you're looking for a good classic white one with big fat

blooms on it you cannot go wrong with white wedding

the butterfly bushes are in all of their glory right here behind me this is

puckster so I'm not gonna pull the Pug store up but I'll let Jerry zoom in on

it love the puckster series of proven

winners butterfly bushes because they're dwarfed basically it's going to be a 2

by 2 and you can see all of the information right here Hardy in zones 5

to 9 they do have to have Sun you don't have Sun they will not bloom the

puckster does just a class like deep fat technically it's blue

I say it's a purple bloom but you know what are you gonna do really really

Hardy very easy maintenance-free basically you can't prune them if you

want to but within being a two by two there's really not a need to do that

because they are just fantastic I do want to take you down here because there

are some roses Rose of Sharon's that are blooming and they are just beautiful in

fact we have a little be sleeping if Jerry can get in here there's a little

honey bee I guess she fell asleep she's covered in the pollen but this is white

chiffon Rosa Sharon from proven winners pure white blooms absolutely gorgeous if

you can see all of the buds completely covered in flowers and buzz it's going

to be just exquisite roses of Sharon's remember can get big so if you have

they're taller than they are wide so if you have an area where you want either

to do a hedge or you want a specimen plant highlight in the center of the bed

this is great they are Hardy in zones 5 to 9 I mean we're a 7 so boom there you

go so there is white then there is magenta oh look I kind of try to be

still for Jerry look at the blooms on this the color absolutely gorgeous I

only have one left here at the nursery right now because people have seen how

gorgeous it is and have snatched it up so if you're watching this and you want

it you better hurry up and get out here again it's the same size same

requirements love the Sun just easy low maintenance and then there is a blue

also these are kind of these buds blooms are kind of that they're into their

cycle so we'll have some new ones come out but you can see the color on that

just a really pretty color really pretty alright hibiscus is

now if you have been paying attention to our social media stories and all of that

I posted some pictures last weekend I believe of a perennial hibiscus that was

from proven winners that with that one was cherry cheesecake that was from like

five or six years ago unfortunately they've discontinued that particular one

but they have tons of them these of course came in this year we grew these

this year so they have not flushed out and blooms yet but you can tell that

they are covered in buds look at this perennial hibiscus are fantastic because

they're so low maintenance they are extremely cold tolerant so we

don't have to worry about you know getting too cold in the wintertime this

is the tag for this particular color they are Hardy in zones four to nine so

we love that they bloom once a day so the hibiscus blooms will last for one

day but they're massive they are just huge they're what we call the dinner

size plate blooms so this is the perfect storm which is a white and pink bicolor

they do need Sun so at least a minimum of four hours of direct Sun anywhere to

all day they can just sit out in the Sun all day and be happy they do come in

different heights basically they're wider than they are tall but according

to the Pacific variety will give you the different heights so that tallest is

going to be around that 4 to 5 foot height range so just to keep you in mind

on that there is the perfect storm then there's very awesome so if you're

looking for just a great solid pink this is a wonderful one in fact it's the

perennial of the year for proven winners all right move it on let's go up here

give you a little bit of a water trough update so that you can see how fantastic

this thing is doing it is just wonderful the water

trough is full Sharon look at Sharon Sharon and all of her glory is just

massive she is trailing over you would never

know that I gave her a massive haircut before we went on vacation two weeks ago

we could witch look at wicked witch love this coleus

absolutely wonderful again I've given it another big haircut before we left two

weeks ago diamond snow you four be a nice big tight white blooms there are

some more in here but between Sharon and we could witch in the sweet potato vine

they've kind of taken over but it's gorgeous

all right we're gonna come over here to the pergola area and show you some

fantastic perennials that are doing great in this summertime heat lovely in

fact let's go this way so this is a great perennial is new for us this year

red-hot pokers obviously she's not rich she's yellow look at the blooms not only

do your pollinators love it your honeybees your bumblebees the hunting

birds so we have this in our cottage garden and yesterday I was out there and

the hummingbird was just having her fun time just drinking away on it butterfly

weed look at this gorgeous plant butterflied wheat

butterfly leaves are native they love it dry they love to be left alone they do

not like to be messed with they had produced these gorgeous orange blooms

and the monarch butterflies absolutely adore this plant so if you were looking

to support the butterfly population specifically the Monarchs

you need this plant you stick it in the ground you get it established and you

leave it alone they will thank you and you will be covered up in butterflies

echinacea I've got tons of different echinacea

this is the powwow wild berry if you're looking for a nice pink in your garden

then this is a great one echinacea is as a whole love the Sun they love it dry

they're easy the bugs do not like them pest free basically disease-free and

then if you'll see on this guy now occasionally you'll get some Japanese

beetles on them but you will see so this is the sombrero Orange love the vibrant

color so you have a brand new bloom a bud basically a nice bloom and then an

old bloom if you leave that your old blooms your seed heads on your echinacea

the birds will come and eat it specifically the finches they love to

come and eat your dry seed heads in the fall so that's a great reason to leave

the old heads on there we still have some caladiums day lilies

this is handwriting on the wall it has already finished blooming beautiful

color but this is a great time to go ahead and stick them in the ground that

way they have the rest of the summer and the fall winter to get nice and big and

then in next year they'll be covered in blooms so now is the time to come

shopping for day lilies primal scream look at primal scream this is one from

proven winners great orange color look at that oh it just opened up I took the

old bloom off and she opened up so love the primal scream show that in there too

you basically day lilies are Hardy in zones four through nine they can go to

zone three if you are very careful with them we have a video coming out late

on this week all about daylilies so stay tuned for that all right let's see what

else more echinacea give you an update we put some gaillardia in this lovely

old wagon that is sweet customers of ours gave to us they are doing great

gaillardia again is an annual just really easy the Sun credible sunflower

from proven winners it is a reblooming sunflower fast grower it basically be

like a four by four beautiful blooms cleome if you did not get Cleo meal at

this year you need to put it on your list for next year loves the Sun it gets

nice and tall perfect for the back of your bed this is

the pink next year we're going to do the pink and the white I already have plans

for it this is the singer Rita Rosalita you talk about maintenance free oh my

gosh and unlike traditional clemmy's this does not have thorns it does not go

to sea so it's not going to be invasive in your garden I mean what else can you

ask for it's just fantastic we've tons of

perennials still your hostas lots of hostas this is the red echinacea

sombrero red lots a beautiful color on that nice gorgeous beautiful red

here's your tag for that one love it girion I've decided that we need to do a

bed just full of echinacea is because there's so many great options for

echinacea s-- but we're here we're open we will be as far as for the July 4th

weekend because July 4th is gonna be on Saturday we are open today which is

Thursday from 9:00 to 5:00 Friday 9:00 to 5:00 close on Saturday then after

that we'll go back to regular business hours but we're here hope you are having
