have you been thinking about buying a new Bible or maybe you have somebody
that you want to buy a Bible for and you don't know which one to get well that's
what we're gonna talk about today on crazy simple align your mind with God's
truth with God's Word hey hey good-looking hi I am Nikki Drake founder
of a crazy simple truth if we have not met yet welcome to my youtube channel I
have some crazy things to tell you if we have met or maybe if we haven't in the
last 30 days my subs my subs people who subscribe to my channel has quadrupled
my views has tripled and my watch hours has tripled like that's amazing how cool
is that so anyway on with the Bible okay I'm gonna show you our family Bibles and
actually my husband's is in the car and he's at work so I don't have his but I
have everyone else's so I'm going to show you what we have and give you my
opinion on each one of them I looked like a robot robot yeah okay this is my
youngest daughters old Bible so she got this when she was six oh so cute and
it's a little girls Bible it it's made from Baker's book it was great for her
because it has little things in it like little pictures and let me see if I can
find one of the pages that little things that just tell her some extra
information is very cute it's a very cute Bible and then she made these cute
little tabs for it and she made a cover for it because it was like pink and
purple as she got older but this year we got her a new Bible and so this she no
longer uses that of course is going to keep because it's her first Bible she
got it right before she got baptized so that one is perfect for a little girl my
first Bible I have had for 10 years someone bought it for me when I first
became a Christian and I you can tell have loved on it a lot it's action
starting to kind of come apart I've written all kinds of stuff and what I
love about this Bible is that it is a Study Bible so if you are new to Bible
study you have to have a Study Bible like you have to I mean you don't
because online you can use Bible study tools comm Bible hub com
there are tons of websites where you can get the information but the best part
about the Study Bible is let me see if I can find a good example here to read to
you okay so I'm here in Luke it says it explains to us who is Herod it tells me
how the priests were divided into groups why cast lots to give assignments how
did that work why was John supposed to abstain from wine how could a baby be
filled with the Holy Spirit and it answers all those questions for you and
those are questions you'll have when you're reading and so it's great for
that the other thing I absolutely love about a Study Bible is that it has the
section in the beginning that has why who when where why it was written why
who wrote it yeah that's tough those W questions they're all in the front plus
it has a timeline and at the back it even has maps so this Study Bible has
everything you need to get started studying the Bible this is an NIV
version I'd like this version the best there are lots of versions and you have
to get which one you feel like you understand better when you read it but I
do suggest a Study Bible like this this there is a link for one just like this
except it's a different color because this one's so old and down in the
description box so this is what I suggest if you don't have one that you
need to have a Study Bible in your home because I love it okay let's see what's
next now we've got so that's my old Bible bag is my Bible I use every day
this is my new Bible that my mom bought me and there is a link for this below -
and it is like cloth it's very pretty and she had the little engraved
crazy simple truth for my ministry and it's got smaller print than my study
Bible but instead of the study notes it has a place to take notes or a place to
do artwork and actually bought it to do artwork but then I ended up I did do our
I did do a little artwork in it but I ended up I love the Word of God so much
that I ended up just highlighting and making my notes and then going in and in
little spare places doing artwork and if you haven't seen the Biddy Bible
journaling video I will link it at the end so this one I like the difference
between these two that I don't like is the smaller print I don't like that it
doesn't have the study notes and this is gonna be a tip I'm gonna give you at the
end that's most likely you haven't heard before so you're gonna want to keep
watching one year bible NIV honest truth I hate it I tried to use it for home
school and my youngest son has a form of high-functioning autism so to his brain
everything is black and white and he has to have everything in order and so in
the one year Bible you read from the Old Testament and the New Testament on in
one day and he needed to have like a one whole book of the Bible and you know
consecutively and then go with another book not go back and forth I don't I've
never read the entire Bible I'll admit I've never read the Bible the entire
Bible I don't read my Bible every day let's just be honest here I don't I do
open my Bible app and I at least read the scripture of the day and on most
days I read my Bible and do studies but I'm just gonna be honest with you I
don't and I've never read the entire Bible I probably should I've picked at
it here and there and gotten parts from this and that a lot because you can see
from from my Bible that I've studied a lot of Scripture but this one I do not
suggest I do not suggest rushing through and reading the Bible in a year
sometimes I think people just do it so they can say yeah I've read the whole
Bible four times okay but larvell are you living for Christ are you spending
time with him everyday are you you know it mean it's good if you've read the
Bible but I can think sometimes for some people
it's more of like a bragging thing just saying I do suggest that you read the
whole Bible but I don't suggest that you do it with a one-year Bible you don't
need a special Bible to do it I suggest you start in the New Testament read the
entire New Testament and they'll go back and start the Old Testament that's
that's my suggestion okay this is my sons he didn't ever have yes
he did do I have that somewhere okay he had an action Bible and so it's a
hard cover huge Bible and it's all cartoon drawings so it almost looks like
a comic book and it has it's not verse by verse but for his very helpful for
him at his age well my mom when she was in town when she got me my Bible she got
him a new Bible too and his is beautiful he picked it out and then she had his
name engraved in it and it is the Christian Standard Bible so all of our
Bibles in our house are either NIV or CSB
I just prefer those two sometimes I like to use the app and read other versions
too just to get a different even a message Bible the if you're just not
using it to study word for word but you just kind of want to hear a different
way of explaining what you're reading it's good for that ESV just do whatever
works for you okay so his is really cool for it it's
for teenagers because it has it has its a Study Bible so it has the introduction
on the pages and let me see if I can find it has little extra pages that
explain things and then there's this cool thing well it has except essential
questions but every few pages it has this redemption thread and that's
explaining how this part of the Old Testament fits in to God's story with
Jesus and so it explains it along the way like how you can connect Jesus to
the Old Testament so it's really really a nice Bible and then this is my
daughter's newer Bible which we are already ready to upgrade her but I'll
explain that in a minute this is her newer one and it is so cute see it I
actually did a video on it I can link at the end to she used some shiny washi
tape which she wishes now she wouldn't have
done but that's okay we're gonna we're gonna get her a get her a new one that's
well I'll tell you why this is the secret at the end of the this is the
secret at the end of the video that you've been waiting for would I choose
hardcover or softcover okay here's my two Bibles do you know which one I would
choose this this one's beautiful and I got it to be able to make make it pretty
and to have a fresh Bible to start over with to study in but this Bible is so
much easier on your lap at church when you're sitting in your bed this part of
the Bible this softness is so important and I didn't realize it until I got this
hard Bible and so we are gonna get my daughter a new one
eventually that's soft its imitation leather if you could get real leather
that'd be great too but it's imitation leather that by far is my
biggest tip for Bible shopping so you want a Study Bible you want the soft
covered Bible and larger print and just any version of the Bible that you think
works for you those are my top tips for Bible shopping wow hope that was helpful
and hey if you want some crazy simple tips of how you can apply God's truth to
your life so you can be set free from all this junk that we live in set free
in your mind if that sounds good to you you should subscribe to my channel and
give this video a thumbs up if you like it and share it with your friends and
comment and that would be great and I'll see you next time God loves you he wants
you to be in his word get a Bible god loves you so much and the important
thing isn't what kind of Bible you have the important thing is that you're
reading his word and if that means that you use a free version of the Bible on
your phone a free app then you go for it that works too and that's all I got to
say today
