  • 00:00

Hello my name is Austin Jarrett and I'm from  Allett Mowers and today I want to talk you through

  • 00:05

our new Allett C-27 product. This is a smaller  version of our C34 which we've been selling for

  • 00:14

about 15 years in to football stadiums and very  large gardens. Our customers are asking us for

  • 00:23

a more compact version to work in more confined  areas or where a smaller stripe is required and

  • 00:30

this is particularly from large gardens but also  from the American baseball infield market. So I

  • 00:39

want to talk you through this product now. So  first let's look at the front of the machine

  • 00:44

and talk about the grass box. So the Allett grass  boxes are known for their sturdiness this grass

  • 00:51

box tips nicely frontwards so the material doesn't  spill out onto the cylinder and these grass boxes

  • 00:58

are extremely robust, large capacity and we need  that in particular when we doing other operations

  • 01:05

especially other than grass cutting. It hangs  on this grass box hoop which is adjustable so I

  • 01:13

can adjust the position of that depending on what  operation I'm doing and I can push that away for

  • 01:18

storage to take up less space. If we look at the  front roller this of course controls the height of

  • 01:25

cut or the depth of cultivation of this machine.  It's adjustable on either side you generally use

  • 01:32

a height bar to make sure that we are accurately  controlling those heights and depths. It's large

  • 01:38

diameter got large bearings it's also got a  scraper just behind as well so that no there is no

  • 01:45

buildup of material which would alter our height  of cut. In this unit at the moment we have an

  • 01:51

eight bladed cylinder cartridge in. The 8 bladed  cylinder cartridge cuts the grass beautifully it

  • 01:59

gives us about 148 clips per metre so it's a nice  time to cut at 30 millimetres height or lower that

  • 02:07

will give you no washboard effect and will give  a really nice tight cut. The cylinder discharges

  • 02:15

from the top directly into the grass box because  of its speed and the air flow it really puts all

  • 02:21

the material straight into the grass box  which sits very close in to the cylinder.

  • 02:25

The adjustments for the cylinder to bottom blade  is done just here and here so by just using a 14

  • 02:36

millimetre or 9/16 spanner I just need the one and  then I can adjust my closeness of my cylinder to

  • 02:42

bottom blade. The height of cut on this machine  can be varied between 8 millimetres and 50

  • 02:50

millimetres so that's a really good versatile high  of cut range. We used a six and a half horsepower

  • 02:59

engine the GX 160 we use this because our  customers love it especially in the professional

  • 03:06

market with its easy starting and reliability and  also ease of spare parts throughout the world.

  • 03:12

That engine is switched on and off from the  handlebars from a safety perspective and it is

  • 03:20

pull start so there's no battery on the machine to  go flat over winter. The machine is all controlled

  • 03:27

from the back here from the handlebars. So  I engage my cylinder drive here that's on an

  • 03:34

over centre lever which is a new feature giving  even more power to the cylinder so that we can

  • 03:40

cut longer grass or cultivate deeper than we've  ever done before. We have a deadman handle here

  • 03:46

and I simply control my drive to my rear roller  through the rear bale bar here and that gives me

  • 03:54

some real nice feathering so that I can adjust my  speeds especially if I'm working in more confined

  • 03:59

areas. The rear roller on this machine if I just  turn the machine around you can see the rear

  • 04:08

roller is a two-piece rear roller with a rubber  coating- vulcanised rubber coating which gives

  • 04:14

excellent traction without having to put any  traction grips onto the roller this is really

  • 04:19

good especially when you've got concrete areas or  hard surface areas the machine is very quiet but

  • 04:26

also if you need to move this machine around and  drive up ramps that gives it exceptional traction.

  • 04:37

So the really great thing about the C27 and these  C34 is this ability to be able to change the

  • 04:50

cartridges so we have a really great mower that  cuts really well and fills the grass box very

  • 04:57

clearly but what we can do is remove that when  we've finish mowing and to get great sports turf

  • 05:05

and great lawns just cylinder mowing is not enough  what we need to do is to do other cultivations and

  • 05:12

this range of cartridges here in addition to  the cylinder allows you to more holistically

  • 05:19

look after your sports surface or lawn and  do the cultivations that are necessary. So

  • 05:25

to briefly talk you through eight bladed cylinder  and we also have a six-bladed cylinder if you're

  • 05:32

normally mowing much more long grass and leaving  it fairly long you might want to go for the

  • 05:39

six bladed cylinder instead of the eight but the  eight is by far our most popular cutting cylinder.

  • 05:50

The first one I'm going to show you is the  scarifier cartridge. You can see this is quite

  • 05:58

an aggressive and good spacing on this cartridge.  It's made for going deeper sub six millimetres

  • 06:05

deep into the soil and this will prune roots and  pull out thatch and organic material out of the

  • 06:13

grass and it can also be used for preparation  for over seeding. Aeration is important and most

  • 06:22

compaction happens in the very top surface  so for a very quick easy low-level aeration

  • 06:31

then this sorrel roller is just absolutely  ideal it's so easy to fit in the machine,

  • 06:37

the area that you can cover is a lot very  quickly it only works quite shallow about

  • 06:44

25-30 millimetres depending on the wear on the  tines but the main thing is that nobody knows

  • 06:51

that you've been over the ground it really leaves  no disturbance so you can fit this in at any time.

  • 06:57

We have a brush cartridge- the brush is useful for  picking up debris picking up divots after studs

  • 07:07

have been over the sport surface or you can take  the grass box off and just use it for brushing

  • 07:12

in top dressing it's very effective at that.  This one's one of my favourite most versatile

  • 07:19

cartridges whether it be picking up leaves or  loose debris on the surface or for setting the

  • 07:25

spring tines even more deeply you can fetch out  dead material from the bottom of the sward. It

  • 07:31

doesn't cut into the soil it's gentle it can  be used pretty much at any time of the year

  • 07:37

but it's extremely versatile and gentle it's very  difficult to cause damage on the grass itself. Use

  • 07:45

it regularly and this whole little and often of  removing thatch material out of grass really works

  • 07:51

well with this cartridge but this can also be used  without fear of damage in hybrid sports surfaces.

  • 08:01

Finally a very intensive cartridge here  this is our verticut cartridge and you

  • 08:08

can see the blades on this are aggressive,  very close spaced but because the speed of

  • 08:13

these are spinning it really does cut  very neat slots in we're not normally

  • 08:18

working subsoil level we're normally working  above the soil and in the thatch but the way

  • 08:24

this works it picks the material up so cleanly  and puts that right to the back of the grass

  • 08:29

box it's a really very effective tool and  especially for pruning pruning rhizomes and

  • 08:35

stolons to get new growth appearing this  really works and invigorates the sward.

  • 08:49

So I've just used the spring tine rake cartridge  and you can see this is the grass clippings that

  • 09:02

have come from the 8 bladed cylinder and this  is the material that's come out with the spring

  • 09:09

tine rake cartridge so you can see that this is  material it's dead growth and if you've got moss

  • 09:15

and things like that that this will gently pull  that material out of the sward. So this is the

  • 09:31

most aggressive cartridge we do is the scarifier  cartridge and I haven't actually covered anywhere

  • 09:37

near the same areas I did with the spring tine  rake which is much more gentle and the materials

  • 09:42

got more soil on it because actually works  slightly deeper and we have soil at the bottom of

  • 09:48

the roots on the plants that we've actually pruned  and removed in the same process you can see a

  • 09:54

slight difference again and then type of material  is brought out with the more aggressive cartridge.

  • 10:10

The great thing about the C27 and C34 is  this interchangeability of cartridge and

  • 10:17

it's important that the machine is designed  robustly and that we give you the accuracy at

  • 10:23

the same time as giving you the versatility that  interchangeable cartridges give you. I'm going

  • 10:29

to show you how simple it is to change one of  these cartridges over. And there we have it that

  • 10:51

cartridge is completely secure in that unit and I  will need to change the height of cut because the

  • 10:58

cartridges are required at different heights  but there we have a cartridge change simple,

  • 11:03

easy and very reliable. Thank you for watching  the video I hope you found it helpful this C 27

  • 11:11

unit is really so versatile the stripes are  so strong but the health of your grass is

  • 11:18

going to be exceptional if you do all of these  cultivation tasks please find more information

  • 11:24

on our website at www.allett.co.uk or  send us an email. Thankyou very much!
