INFJs are probably most known for their strong insights about people and situations.

This often appears as a sixth sense-like ability to predict the future.

INFJs themselves can be so perplexed by their seemingly accurate premonitions, they may

even feel as though they have psychic powers.

So are INFJs really psychic?

Well, the answer is… not exactly.

While INFJs do experience strong intuitive insights, it’s not the same as a paranormal

ability to predict next week's lottery numbers.

What gives INFJs their insights is a result of unconscious processing.

This is how they are able to connect a variety of dots to form conclusions which are, more

often than not, incredibly accurate.

An INFJ’s mind is wired to see patterns

INFJs use their core cognitive function Introverted Intuition (Ni) along with their tertiary function;

Extroverted Sensing (Se) to sense and process the world around them.

They use Extroverted Sensing (Se) to gather information from their five senses; sight,

sound, touch, smell, and taste.

That information is then stored inside their mind where their most dominant cognitive function;

Introverted Intuition (Ni) takes over.

It is like an INFJs sixth sense.

It has the ability to connect dots and recognize patterns in information, which leads them

to conclude a likelihood of a particular outcome further down the road.

These conclusions are based on the implications and consequences they have perceived.

It’s how their mind is wired, but this process is mostly done unconsciously.

This is why certain revelations may seem to come ‘out of the blue’ and even shock

the INFJ themselves.

However, if you were to closely examine the circumstances involved, you could understand

how a variety of subtle clues led them to their deep knowing.

1.INFJs are hyper-aware of people's feelings and moods

INFJs are known as both thinkers and feelers.

This is because their secondary cognitive function is Extroverted Feeling (Fe).

Extroverted Feeling (Fe) is primarily focused on externalizing values into the world outside

one's self.

INFJs use this function to observe people and make judgments.

They are incredibly proficient when it comes to picking up on non-verbal cues, and generally

have a more natural understanding of human behavior.

When they meet someone, they unconsciously collect data about them.

Their tone, pace of speaking, stuttering, choice of words, their hand gestures, and

most importantly their eyes.

It's often called the INFJ stare.

INFJs love to look at people’s eyes a little too intensely when talking.

They unconsciously do this to get accustomed to someone's eye movements.

Something in their brain can then be triggered if things are out of character, and because

of this, INFJs can detect lies and deception much sooner than most people.

Then what is it?

I don’t trust him, Sir?

What do you distrust?

His nature Sir, like many charming people he conceals an almost absolute dependence

on the appreciation of others.

And what is the terrible ill in that?

His sole interest is in being loved Sir, not in loving.

INFJs are exceptional listeners

INFJs have an immense level of empathy and emotional intelligence.

At their core, they have a deep desire to be understood and accepted as they are.

So when they listen they never try to fix anyone, they only seek to find more understanding.

Their empathy seems to be more about resonance in a lot of ways.

If they have experienced what you are going through, they tend to feel it in you and respond

appropriately.

If they haven’t, they will ask questions.

INFJs aren’t surface people, and so they like to dig a little deeper in order to really

put themselves in someone else’s shoes.

This way of listening makes them very skilled at reading between the lines of what people

say.

It also helps them get a sense of how other people are feeling, even when those people

are trying to keep their emotions hidden.

INFJS can sense hidden motives

A highly underrated aspect of an INFJs Intuition is its ability to discern hidden motives.

Introverted intuition gives INFJs a sense or impression of people that can penetrate

appearances.

This means while INFJs see the outer persona and the surface-level interactions of others,

they tend to be more focused on what’s going on behind the scenes; why people say or do

the things they do.

INFJs can be great judges of character as a result.

They are able to sense authenticity or lack of sincerity in people very quickly.

INFJS can see in symbols

An INFJs intuition can be very visual in nature.

They prefer to picture things and so they understand more with symbolism and abstract

terms.

This is why a lot of INFJs tend to explain things using metaphors.

This is very different from most people in the world who tend to be sensing types.

Most people will rely on literal interpretations of things; what something looked like, felt

like, and sounded.

For example, a sensing type can look at a chain and think; “it’s made of metal,

it’s silver, it kinda looks like the one I use to lock up my shed”.

Whereas an INFJ will look at the same chain and think; “this chain is a symbol for domination

and subservience.

Why is this chain here?”

Most people will see the chain for what it literally is and for its utilitarian purpose,

the INFJ will see a symbol of what the chain means and will have more questions.

This can make the INFJ prone to overanalyzing, but often this nature of not taking things

at face value is what gives them the perspective to understand more than others.

INFJs are more inclined to lucid dreaming

Freud believed that our dreams were the window into our subconscious, and this tends to be

true for most INFJs.

An INFJ's dream can be a gateway of sorts because of their introverted intuition.

For them, dreams can have rich symbolism, feeling, and imagery that they are unable

to obtain in the waking world, and it can bring a new depth to their intuition.

INFJs have the power to find meaning in everything, so an INFJ who is attuned to their dreams

can find answers to questions they cannot find in the waking world.

For example; They could be stressed and anxious about how their boss sees their abilities

in the office.

However whilst dreaming they can be in a position of complete competence, perhaps they’ll

be fighting dragons to save their boss.

They will then wake confused

but somehow empowered to take on the day, with a new appreciation of their capabilities.

It’s an INFJs restrained emotion and composure in the real world and an interest in the esoteric

that make them more inclined to have these reality-shifting dreams.

Overall, INFJs possess a subjective and unconscious ability to recognize patterns in their environment

and through their senses and are able to connect it in a way that produces profound realizations.

However because introverted intuition is dominant in only 5 percent of the population, these

‘aha’ moments can be impossible for many to understand or explain.

Many people will dismiss an INFJs hunches and warnings, however, this will likely prove

unwise.

While INFJs are not psychic in the supernatural sense, they are gifted in seeing more than

meets the eye.
