vietnamese lunar new year is right around the corner and i'm so excited for all the

good food so today i decided to invite some of my foreign friends to come here and try

some of the vietnamese dishes during vietnamese lunar new year aka Tet and they are from lsv which

is let's speak vietnamese and we'll see if they are fans of vietnamese cuisine hi my

Tet- lunar new year yeah big celebration i guess it would be the biggest celebration here in Vietnam right

right it seems quite similar to christmas so everyone stayed with their family yeah

similar vibes to christmas definitely uh they have kumquat trees they're they're little

little orange orange fruits

uh they give out lucky money so whoever is that yours like the first person that will

enter your house after that like outside person should be like someone who brings luck otherwise

you will be like unlucky earlier so it's really important to have someone but that one depends

on also their zodiac sign like like the years they were born in especially young people

they get asked when they get married and when they have their kids quite a lot around that

that's what i've been told red red red

oh it's red

this is sticky rice cake yes with onions and with soy sauce banh chung is the most popular food

for vietnamese luner new year

You can do it! It's a monster

oh wow that's so good that is so good it looks like tuna that's true

that's good i really like

it i love that one the rice isn't just regular rice it has like this almost banana flavor

it's like a you can taste the banana leaf around it almost it's like seasoned and then

the meat is like a salty um hearty kind of center and the mung bean kind of glues it

all together along with the stickiness of the rice yeah this does remind me of like

mexican tamales which is like corn instead of rice it's corn and inside these meats yeah

i think i have black meat inside no mung beans the pickled onion gives a nice contrast too

because it's really thick and heavy and then when you eat the pickled onions like light

and sharp and crunchy and we've been dancing i'm like i'm loving this

i think i prefer that so this one yeah i like the crunch but it's more oily i'll give like

that like a five it's a lot like an eight like this is so much better eight point five

for that one so yeah i'm gonna give it like a seven point five

oh no to me nine it's on my heart seven yeah i like the filling with the rice is good too

ten out of ten

you hear the sound yeah i hear the sound like mushroom and meat only

not bad

it's actually okay

so inside they have pork mushroom uh pig ears what ears it's like cold it's too cold

like it has a weird coldness to it

oh not not for me what is the i wouldn't eat it to me no no go i just i can't connect with

this food i can't just get

i think the flavor's alright the actual meat but just the texture of the jelly in the meat

is just horrible not my favorite definitely not my favorite um i'd give this also a one

yeah for me it's okay it's a five minus one because of the pig ears

this is vietnamese glass noodles this scares me yeah i'm most afraid look like eyeballs

here so oh what is this wait okay i'm gonna show you for the camera i think it's it's

someone's piece of something

it's an egg mmm egg roll breakfast i think it's really nice it's like it's like slimy

but in in a nice kind of slimy and that is chewy but like a good kind of chewy

what is that for me it was like a really nice chicken and mushroom pot noodles yeah it's

nice it's nice it's not like super meaty before i would give it a second i'm gonna give it

like for three it's not like

really in vietnam no i've never had boiled chicken like a lot of vietnamese food is very

like spiced up and has like a bunch of flavor and then chicken is just like a chicken it's

like just boiled you want us to do like a little fist bump that's going to be so weird

cheers so basically i i had it before because i went to this vietnamese co-worker place

it would be like a great honor for me like to eat a full like but massive chicken leg

and everybody was watching yeah yeah and they expect it to be like do you like it right

and if you say you don't it's like, dishonour!

Wait what did you just eat? Did you just eat his butt. No!! Let me see! Oh I think that's his butt

Oh there is his head. Ok I'm done, I'm done

I'm gonna give it a four too. Meh, five

It's too plain for me i think we have more flavors, and it's a four

Xoi gac and vietnamese baloney all right uh i have the meat in banh mi but not the rice yeah i know

i've never known what it is i'm just like eating it thinking of me look how orange my

fingers are oh wow this is really nice it's so compact it is that meat it looks like tofu

or something it doesn't like proper meat but i don't think i've had this before i think

i've had something that looks similar but i don't think it looks like cinnamon reminds

almost kinda reminds me of pumpkin i give it like um 8.5 like i could eat this for lunch mmm all right it's

quite high last one was the seven this is going to be like at least an eight eight nine

maybe a nine i don't know

well i mean i had spring rolls but i'm not sure exactly the same super crunchy something

for you maybe like not shrimp but like crab or something poor carrots onions and noodles

in it

so nice

can i finish all of them. I can eat this every day yeah i for sure eat this every day i rate this it's

a 7.5 yeah a solid 7.5 it's really good. I''ll give it a 8

Yeah, That's really nice, I'll think I give it a 9

I'm gonna give it a ten. I'll give it a nine

Bamboo shoots with ribs

it's very light like i was expecting like huhh it would be fats or something bamboo

Bamboo, I love bamboo

It's a bit like carrots, crunchy bit and soft at the same time

the microwave and it smells like the entire house smells terrible like a really

but like my first encounter with bamboo shoots was my roommates who would like eat them in

bad first time console so so i've never actually had bamboo shoots before but i've actually

had bamboo back in the states but it's in the can so it's very different than it is

here because it's not as fresh it's like i guess in the brine so it's very very mushy

and give it like seven it needs spice i need

maybe like um give it like a six out of ten i would give it six point five i'm used to

more heavy soups and also like cream soup so i need some flavor in here

oh god that's why it's called salted egg oh yeah you're telling me you like that yeah it's

nice but there's sausage in that it's so easy nice combo

the white part the white part just tastes like pure salt yeah oh thank you you are live saver

lifesaver after announcing it i'll give that a night right with the rice and the sausage

that's actually really nice if i ate any more of that egg i would do that

how do you think this is lucky if you rate this five out of five i'm gonna be it's at

least to seven i maybe even got eight it's pretty nice i think guys i can't breathe

spring rolls for them my favorite was definitely in the bench 100 uh i reckon the spring rolls

probably the best probably one of the best spring rolls i've had in vietnam so i don't

know i think like my i was great for the spring rolls but the one that really surprised me

was fine it wins my least favorite chicken jelly yeah chicken is really not my thing
