  • 00:02

    I couldn't believe it.

  • 00:03

On a Christian call-in radio show

  • 00:07

    A caller said, "It's okay for Christians to lie;

  • 00:10

after all, Jesus lied to His own brothers!"

  • 00:14

Wait a minute. Jesus lied? Jesus is God. Jesus never lied!

  • 00:20

    Where did he get that?

  • 00:21

Well, it turns out his Bible is missing an important word,

  • 00:27

and that missing word turned Jesus into a liar.

  • 00:31

I'm David Daniels, author of the book, Look What's Missing.

  • 00:35

Let me tell you what happened.

  • 00:38

The caller was referring to John, chapter 7.

  • 00:42

In it we find that Jesus had been in Galilee for the last few months.

  • 00:47

The Jewish leaders wanted Jesus dead,

  • 00:49

    Jesus knew that.

  • 00:51

But man wasn't going to determine when Jesus would die for the sins of mankind.

  • 00:57

He had a time that He had chosen, and this was not it.

  • 01:00

    So He stayed in Galilee.

  • 01:02

Meanwhile, the Feast of Tabernacles had come.

  • 01:06

That was one of the 3 Feasts where every Jewish male had to go up to Jerusalem.

  • 01:13

Jesus' 4 half-brothers: James, Joses, Simon and Judas,

  • 01:17

they're all ready to go. They're in the caravan, saying,

  • 01:19

    Come on, Jesus, let's go!

  • 01:22

    But He's not budging.

  • 01:24

    What's Jesus gonna do?

  • 01:27

    He has two options:

  • 01:30

A, He can stay, and for the first time in His life,

  • 01:34

disobey the Law that He gave to Moses,

  • 01:37

or B, He could go and show Himself to the priests

  • 01:40

and get Himself killed before the time He had chosen.

  • 01:44

    What would He do?

  • 01:46

Well, according to this caller's Bible,

  • 01:49

Jesus said, You go up; I am NOT going up to this feast.

  • 01:54

    And He stayed in Galilee.

  • 01:57

But a little while later, there Jesus is, in Jerusalem!

  • 02:00

According to that Bible, Jesus LIED to His brothers.

  • 02:05

How would they ever believe Him again when He said,

  • 02:07

"I am the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life"?

  • 02:12

Wait a second. If Jesus lied,

  • 02:15

And God never lies, how could Jesus be God?

  • 02:19

Do you see where this is going?! Ouch!

  • 02:23

The caller was saying, "Jesus lied,"

  • 02:26

"And so can we, if we have a good reason."

  • 02:29

They went on talking, and the caller said,

  • 02:32

"I think we have a little 'wiggle room'."

  • 02:34

The host laughed and said, "That's what we call it: 'wiggle room'."

  • 02:39

Listen, if you start talking about 'wiggle room' in your Bible,

  • 02:43

    you've got a problem.

  • 02:45

There is no 'wiggle room' in a King James Bible.

  • 02:50

I've got news for you: the host was a Christian college professor.

  • 02:57

Do you know what he should have said?

  • 02:58

He should have said, "Wait a minute! Your Bible is MISSING an important word!"

  • 03:04

What is that word? Three letters: Y-E-T, "yet."

  • 03:10

Here's what a real Bible says:

  • 03:11

John 7:8, "I go not up YET unto this feast, for my time is not yet full come."

  • 03:19

And saying these things, He stayed in Galilee.

  • 03:22

    That makes perfect sense!

  • 03:23

    Jesus didn't go up THEN,

  • 03:26

But after His family had gone up, He went up secretly,

  • 03:30

so 1, He kept the Law of Moses,

  • 03:34

and 2, He didn't expose Himself to the priests and an early death.

  • 03:40

Do you see what a problem that one little word can make?

  • 03:46

One missing word could turn Jesus into a liar.

  • 03:49

How many lies does it take to make a liar?

  • 03:53

    Just one.

  • 03:56

So if Jesus lied, what would that make Him? A liar.

  • 04:00

Hebrews 6:18 says that it is "impossible for God to lie."

  • 04:05

So if it's impossible for GOD to lie, and Jesus lied,

  • 04:09

what would that make Him? Not God!

  • 04:12

Revelation 21:8 says all liars are going to the lake of fire.

  • 04:17

Are they going to say that Jesus is going to the lake of fire?!

  • 04:20

This is ABSURD! How could anybody believe this?!

  • 04:25

Do you hear where all this is going? It's absurd! It's crazy!

  • 04:29

And it's all from just ONE missing word in ONE verse.

  • 04:32

But you know what? It's not just this version.

  • 04:35

I found 20 different Bible versions missing that important word, "yet."

  • 04:41

    And that's just one verse.

  • 04:43

In my book there are over 250 different verses

  • 04:49

missing whole words, phrases, even verses.

  • 04:54

    And they're important.

  • 04:57

Everybody knows there are problems with the Jehovah's Witness Bible,

  • 05:02

But did you know that 5 of the most popular Bibles

  • 05:07

are missing more words, phrases and verses than the JW Bible?

  • 05:13

Evangelicals believe a doctrine--they have through the centuries--

  • 05:16

it's found in 1 specific Bible verse.

  • 05:19

Did you know that 29 modern Bibles are missing that verse?

  • 05:24

    What about the Trinity?

  • 05:26

Did you know that the best verse to explain the Trinity

  • 05:29

is removed in 37 of the 40 Bibles I reviewed for this book?

  • 05:36

You know, you can tell a lot about what a person believes

  • 05:39

--or doesn't believe-- by what he takes out of his Bible.

  • 05:44

God made a promise to preserve His words.

  • 05:47

God KEPT His promise by preserving His words through faithful followers

  • 05:52

in different languages through the centuries.

  • 05:55

And those words are preserved in English in the King James Bible.

  • 05:58

    It's not missing a thing.

  • 06:02

I can't say that about the 40 other Bible versions.

  • 06:04

Is a version you like in this list? You need to find out.

  • 06:11

If you really care about God and His words,

  • 06:13

make sure you don't put your trust in a Bible that's missing something.
