Not sure if we entirely agree with that.

  • 00:06

Welcome to WatchMojo UK and today we’ll be counting down the top 10 Jon Snow Moments!

  • 00:11

For this list, we’ll be looking at Jon Snow’s most defining, memorable

  • 00:31

and emphatic moments from the “Game of Thrones” series.

  • 00:34

Oh yeah, and there are huge spoilers coming your way.

  • 00:45

After being murdered by a handful of his own men for being a traitor, Jon rises from the

  • 00:49

dead and seeks revenge on those that killed him.

  • 00:51

    And who wouldn't?

  • 00:52

Making an example of his executioners, he lines them up, gives a quick word or two and

  • 00:56

then lets them hang until they are dead.

  • 01:01

It’s dirty work, especially as one of them is a boy who used to worship Jon and be his

  • 01:09

    personal steward.

  • 01:10

But it’s something the must do as a leader.

  • 01:12

There’s a lot of ego, flirting and pride flying about with King of the North Jon and

  • 01:30

    Dragon Queen Daenerys.

  • 01:31

They know they need each other to fight the army of the dead, yet neither wants to be

  • 01:35

    the other's subordinate.

  • 01:36

However, following a dramatic spear-hurling, dragon-slaying encounter beyond the wall,

  • 01:40

Jon realises that it’s time to finally “bend the knee” and call Daenerys his queen.

  • 01:46

It’s a subtle scene, but one that brings the two leaders closer together - and shows

  • 01:51

us that Jon is clearly looking at the bigger picture.

  • 02:04

Some of us are fighters, while others have book smarts.

  • 02:07

Samwell Tarly is definitely one of the latter.

  • 02:10

Although he later becomes an integral part of key plot lines, our introduction to Sam

  • 02:14

sees him anxiously waddle into the training arena of The Night’s Watch, only to be beaten

  • 02:18

to the ground in a matter of seconds.

  • 02:23

Although everyone’s quick to ridicule Sam, Jon sticks up for him, proving that even early

  • 02:28

on he showed the paternal signs of a leader.

  • 02:30

And that he can fight like

  • 02:45

    a boss.

  • 02:48

Nobody has ever disputed Jon Snow’s bravery and leadership qualities.

  • 02:51

But whether he should be Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch is a different matter.

  • 02:55

With all of its members sat around wondering who to appoint as their leader, Sam steps

  • 02:59

up and throws Jon’s hat into the ring, somewhat to Jon’s dismay.

  • 03:08

And it’s Sam’s speech that sells it, with everyone soon realising that he is the one

  • 03:14

    to lead them forward.

  • 03:16

    Well, almost everyone.

  • 03:18

Some people have greatness thrust upon them.

  • 03:28

There’s giants stomping, arrows flying and bodies burning aplenty during the Wildling

  • 03:40

siege on Castle Black, but the highlight has got to be Jon’s showdown with the cannibalistic

  • 03:45

    Styr.

  • 03:47

After killing numerous enemy footsoldiers, Jon and Styr set their sights on each other.

  • 03:58

What follows is a nail biting battle where we’re never sure which way it’s going

  • 04:01

    to go.

  • 04:02

And after face planting an anvil, we think yep, Jon is done for.

  • 04:06

    Then this happens… headache much.

  • 04:16

Janos Slynt and Jon Snow never really saw eye-to-eye, with Janos always quick to throw

  • 04:26

    in a cheap dig.

  • 04:27

But with Jon now Lord Commander, he can’t afford to be seen as weak, especially in front

  • 04:32

    of his men.

  • 04:35

So, when Janos insults Jon by refusing to follow an order, Jon decides that enough is

  • 04:43

enough - and sends him to the chopping block.

  • 04:45

Convinced it’s just scare tactics, Janos soon realises that Jon’s not bluffing, and

  • 04:50

    begins to beg for mercy.

  • 04:52

    But it’s too late.

  • 05:01

Eliminating a member of the army of the dead is no easy task.

  • 05:11

No weapon can hurt them, they have superhuman strength, and they just keep going and going.

  • 05:16

Valyrian steel however, will do the job.

  • 05:19

Although Jon’s sword Longclaw is made of the super-rare metal, in this scene, he’s

  • 05:22

still unaware of its effectiveness against them.

  • 05:30

Tussling tirelessly in a fiery wreckage, he manages to escape, grab his sword - and then

  • 05:35

    the rest is history.

  • 05:37

The look on the White Walkers face before he’s shattered to pieces - priceless.

  • 05:57

The relationship between Jon and Wildling Ygritte is one of the best, and most complicated

  • 06:01

    of the series.

  • 06:08

And with both of them being from opposing armies, it’s naturally frowned upon by others.

  • 06:19

But that doesn't stop them from pursuing, flirting with and eventually making love to

  • 06:23

    each other.

  • 06:28

It’s something all fans wished for, but were never quite sure they’d see - especially

  • 06:37

    considering Jon’s Night's Watch vows.

  • 06:39

Thankfully though, Jon let’s love prevail - and in a cave of all places.

  • 06:44

As mentioned, Jon is betrayed and murdered by some of his men at Castle Black, but it’s

  • 06:54

    not your bog standard execution.

  • 06:57

Branded a traitor, many of his men line-up to take turns stabbing him, each of them stating

  • 07:04

    it’s “for the watch”.

  • 07:06

Confused, shocked and bleeding out, Jon falls to his knees, looking around for salvation,

  • 07:11

only to be confronted by his young friend and admirer Olly, who finishes the job.

  • 07:20

The “Game of Thrones” community was up in arms - but not for long.

  • 07:50

In many ways, the Battle of the Bastards is a culmination of everything Jon Snow has worked

  • 07:54

    towards and overcome.

  • 07:56

WIlling to sacrifice his life - again - for his people, and heading fearlessly towards

  • 08:00

a wall of enemies, Jon fights Ramsay Bolton’s army in one of the series’ bloodiest battles.

  • 08:18

Jon wins, with a little help from The Knights of the Vale, leaving Ramsey to flee to Winterfell.

  • 08:23

    But Jon’s not finished there.

  • 08:24

He chases Ramsey down and gloriously beats him to

  • 08:45

    a pulp.
