  • 00:00

Since my last update, the market has continued to decline with the S&P 500 down 9% over the

  • 00:05

    last month.

  • 00:07

Year to date, it’s down 13.76%.

  • 00:10

There are countless examples of stocks down 40, 50, 60, 70, and even 90% over the last

  • 00:17

    year.

  • 00:18

That leaves a lot of potential buying opportunities in todays market.

  • 00:21

I actually sold one of my larger positions to fund $5,000 in new buys.

  • 00:26

Additionally, I made an even larger move in my Roth IRA.

  • 00:29

In this video, I’m going to explain my logic behind these transactions and analyze the

  • 00:34

performance of my entire long-term dividend stock portfolio.

  • 00:47

    (intro vid)

  • 01:07

My name is Zach and you should leave a like and subscribe to the channel if you enjoy

  • 01:10

    the video.

  • 01:11

I just passed 100k subscribers and would like to thank everyone who’s been following my

  • 01:16

    YouTube journey.

  • 01:17

The best is yet to come.

  • 01:19

To celebrate this milestone, I’m going to give every viewer a coupon code for a 1 month

  • 01:24

free trial to my website DividendData.com.

  • 01:28

This is the software I use throughout these updates to track my portfolio and dividend

  • 01:33

    income.

  • 01:34

Also, it has a great research tool for analyzing stock financials.

  • 01:37

Like your dividend stocks, the website will keep compounding, adding new features and

  • 01:42

    improving in quality with time.

  • 01:44

The coupon code is ‘100K’ and applies to the monthly plan.

  • 01:48

Select the plan and enter in the coupon code at checkout.

  • 01:51

The code will remain valid for first time customers over the following week.

  • 01:55

Link to DividendData.com is in the description and pinned comment.

  • 01:59

Now, let’s dive into my portfolio.

  • 02:01

My current dividend portfolio value is $103,484.

  • 02:04

I’m up 20 thousand dollars overall, which is a 24.26% return on dollars invested.

  • 02:12

This is down over $7k from my last update, where my total return was 30.8%.

  • 02:17

There are 2 major changes since my last update.

  • 02:21

First, AT&T officially spun out WarnerMedia and merged it with Discovery, forming the

  • 02:26

    new company Warner Bros Discovery.

  • 02:28

I made an entire video explaining the news, but this is the current situation.

  • 02:32

I have my readjusted AT&T position, which is now valued at $9,600, which is a total

  • 02:39

    return of -3%.

  • 02:40

Also, the dividend has been reduced, which we’ll discuss later in the video.

  • 02:45

Initally, when the transaction occurred I was in the green overall after many months

  • 02:49

    of being in the red.

  • 02:50

However, WBD stock has tanked in recent weeks following the fall of Netflix, Disney, and

  • 02:56

    other media companies.

  • 02:57

    It’s now down 30%.

  • 02:59

I think both stocks are good values and will continue to hold at current prices.

  • 03:03

The second major change is that I sold all of my Kimberly-Clark stock.

  • 03:07

I sold at a slight loss, netting me $6,207.

  • 03:12

The logic behind this was that I saw many companies who I thought were a more attractive

  • 03:16

    opportunity.

  • 03:17

These were higher quality stocks at cheaper combination of PE multiples and growth rates.

  • 03:22

Kimberly-Clark is still a strong company that will be able to pay a growing dividend well

  • 03:26

    into the future.

  • 03:28

They have good brands and I think the company will do fine long-term.

  • 03:31

However, their product categories are competitive and it’s difficult to create pricing power

  • 03:36

    through differentiation.

  • 03:37

This became obvious in these high inflation times, when the company fared far worse than

  • 03:42

    other consumer defensive stocks.

  • 03:44

Procter & Gamble is diversified into higher margin products with better pricing power.

  • 03:49

Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have much higher margin products with strong pricing power.

  • 03:53

It became clear that Kimberly-Clark is weaker and I think is over priced relative to other

  • 03:58

stocks in the market, given their low growth.

  • 04:01

That said, KMB stock did increase after slightly improved earnings and raised guidance.

  • 04:06

So I could have sold at a better price.

  • 04:08

Yet, the company is still earning less from inflation and not projected to return close

  • 04:13

    to 2020 earnings until 2024.

  • 04:16

This will likely mean slow dividend growth moving forward.

  • 04:19

Slower growth companies do not deserve to trade at a premium valuation, especially with

  • 04:23

so many higher growth stocks trading at a sizeable discount.

  • 04:27

I could potentially buy back into KMB stock if it was much cheaper.

  • 04:31

So that sale netted me $6,200 to reinvest in new stocks.

  • 04:35

So far I’ve invested, around $5,000 of that, with $1,200 still in cash.

  • 04:40

I bought 37 shares of Intel at a total cost of $1,699.66, giving me a cost per share of

  • 04:48

    $45.94.

  • 04:50

These buys have a starting dividend yield of 3.18%.

  • 04:53

Intel has is trading at a cheap trailing PE ratio of 9.

  • 04:57

They have pretty high margins, especially when compared to a company like Kimberly-Clark.

  • 05:01

They have a dominant position in semiconductor manufacturing, which is a growing industry.

  • 05:06

However, they are investing heavily over the next couple of years, which will hurt their

  • 05:10

    short term earnings on paper.

  • 05:11

They’re building out several new fabrication plants, creating a new foundry business, and

  • 05:16

securing Intel as the dominant semiconductor manufacturer in the western world.

  • 05:21

I’m bullish on the company over the next 5 years and think this a great entry point

  • 05:25

    to build a long-term position.

  • 05:27

I’ll be buying more as the stock falls.

  • 05:29

I purchased 8 shares of Disney at a total cost of $1,012.26, giving me a cost per share

  • 05:36

    of $126.53.

  • 05:39

This is a company I’m very bullish on over the next decade.

  • 05:42

Their dividend is currently suspended, but they’ve stated that dividends and share

  • 05:45

repurchases are a part of their long-term capital allocation strategy.

  • 05:50

The company is in a strong financial recovery from the pandemic and domestic parks have

  • 05:54

    now hit record profitability.

  • 05:56

Earnings will continue to improve over the coming years.

  • 05:59

All streaming and media stocks have seen dramatic valuation compression, driven by netflix subscriber

  • 06:05

    results and guidance.

  • 06:06

In my opinion, many of these stocks are currently undervalued, such as Disney.

  • 06:10

That said, they could continue to fall over the short term.

  • 06:13

I recently made a video discussing all the recent political drama related to the stock.

  • 06:18

Also, Disney reports earnings on May 11th, which I will be watching with great interest.

  • 06:23

    I bought 5 shares of T Rowe.

  • 06:25

Price Group, at a total cost of $675.16, giving me a cost per share of $135.03.

  • 06:31

I recently made a full stock review video on the company.

  • 06:35

As a provider of mutual funds, the recent market downturn is leading to lower earnings

  • 06:39

    and higher outflows.

  • 06:40

However, I’m using this as a buying opportunity as the stock is down 45% from it’s high.

  • 06:46

This company is a dividend growth machine and my starting dividend yield is 3.55%.

  • 06:51

I’ll be buying more on the dip.

  • 06:52

I bought 2 shares of Microsoft at a total cost of $559.80, giving me a cost per share

  • 06:59

    of $279.90.

  • 07:02

This is one of the best companies in the world and just reported terrific earnings.

  • 07:06

Their azure cloud business is poised to fuel high growth over the next decade.

  • 07:10

This is a core position of mine and I will continue to dollar cost average and buy dips.

  • 07:15

My starting dividend yield on this purchase is 0.88%.

  • 07:18

I bought 3 shares of 3M at a total cost of $437.45, giving me a cost per share of $145.82.

  • 07:27

This industrial stock has reliable slow earnings and dividend growth.

  • 07:31

It’s trading at a 14 PE and I bought my shares at a 4% starting dividend yield.

  • 07:36

I bought 1 share of Visa at a cost of $207.77.

  • 07:41

My starting dividend yield was 0.72%.

  • 07:44

Visa operates the largest digital payment network and is an extremely scalable and high

  • 07:49

    margin businesses.

  • 07:50

It has significant long-term growth ahead and the company just reported great earnings.

  • 07:54

I’m looking to buy dips and dollar cost average overtime.

  • 07:57

I bought 4 shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance at a total cost of $174.12, giving me a cost

  • 08:04

    per share of $43.54.

  • 08:07

This gives me a starting dividend yield of 4.38%.

  • 08:10

WBA is a consistent dividend grower and at a PE of 8 is too cheap to not add a few shares

  • 08:16

    to my position.

  • 08:17

Finally, I purchased 1 share of Apple at a cost of $157.44.

  • 08:23

I have a starting dividend yield of 0.58%.

  • 08:26

Apple is one of the best companies in the world and one of my core positions. They just

  • 08:30

    reported great earnings.

  • 08:32

I plan to dollar cost average and buy on dips.

  • 08:34

So those are all my new buys in my dividend account.

  • 08:37

I will continue to buy the dip on some of these stocks.

  • 08:40

Also, I’ll be continually evaluating whether I’ll sell more stocks, depending on if the

  • 08:45

    market continues to dip.

  • 08:47

However, this is not all my recent buying and selling.

  • 08:50

If you stick around to the end of the video, I’ll share the change I made in my Roth

  • 08:54

IRA, which is larger than all these transactions.

  • 08:57

But first, let’s look at my dividend income.

  • 09:00

In total, I’ve earned $5,373.44 in dividends since I started my account.

  • 09:07

Year to date, I’ve earned $1,157.38.

  • 09:11

My 3-month rolling average is $306.83.

  • 09:15

This projects out to an estimated annual income of $3,682.

  • 09:20

In April, I earned $232.45 in dividends.

  • 09:23

    This includes $12.93 from Coca-Cola, $57.36 from Kimberly-Clark, $5.32 from O, $46.72

  • 09:34

from FRT, and $110.02 from Altria.

  • 09:38

My upcoming dividends include $141.98 from AT&T.

  • 09:43

This is 46.5% decrease from the previous dividend, which will be a large hit to my dividend income

  • 09:50

    over the short term.

  • 09:51

Other notable dividends include $52.40 from EPD, $21.19 from Intel, and $134.35 from ExxonMobil.

  • 10:01

Over this year, I expect my dividend income to stay relatively flat.

  • 10:05

This is partly due to the dividend reduction of AT&T, but also a shift in my buying strategy

  • 10:10

to focus on long-term dividend and earnings growth.

  • 10:13

I’ve found that in today’s market many higher growth stocks are at more attractive

  • 10:18

    valuations.

  • 10:19

Also, there is significant sector wide sell offs such as technology and media.

  • 10:23

This is while many consumer defensive companies like Pepsico, Procter & Gamble, Costco, etc

  • 10:30

    trade at premium valuations.

  • 10:31

It’s an interesting market right now where many stocks are trading at steep discounts,

  • 10:36

while others seem to be heavily overvalued.

  • 10:39

With that said, let’s discuss the major change I made in my Roth IRA.

  • 10:43

    I sold my T Rowe.

  • 10:44

Price Health Sciences funds, ticker symbol PRHSX, netting $8,772.10.

  • 10:51

I reinvested this money in order to buy 74 shares of Disney Stock at a cost per share

  • 10:56

    of $118.41.

  • 10:59

Disney is currently at a price, where I feel extremely confident buying the stock long-term.

  • 11:05

At current prices, the forward PE for 2022 is 25.15 and the analyst projected 2024 PE

  • 11:12

    is 16.78.

  • 11:14

I think it will easily hit these numbers, as this is a return to pre-pandemic earnings.

  • 11:19

In 2024, the streaming services are just estimated to be reaching profitability.

  • 11:24

Over the decade following that, I think with high certainty those services will become

  • 11:28

    massively profitable.

  • 11:29

As much as everyone has been trashing Netflix lately, they’ve already create a free cash

  • 11:33

flow positive service with growing earnings.

  • 11:36

I’m actually quite bullish on Netflix’s earnings growth over the next decade.

  • 11:40

Not to mention the announced Dinsey+ ad-supported tier and the future monetization paths that

  • 11:45

    could be taken.

  • 11:46

Additionally, the Disney parks division will continue to grow, becoming more profitable

  • 11:50

    than ever with recent changes.

  • 11:52

I’m not even beginning to talk about the value of their brands and the countless other

  • 11:56

    avenues of monetization.

  • 11:58

There are significant long-term growth drivers.

  • 12:01

I think the company has proven to be innovative, adapting and improving with technology.

  • 12:06

Disney has a wide economic moat and quality storytelling will always have large value.

  • 12:11

I feel very comfortable with this allocation.

  • 12:13

However, there are a lot of other companies I could have bought at a good value.

  • 12:17

For example, I think Google, Netflix, Amazon, and Facebook are all great buys at current

  • 12:23

    prices.

  • 12:24

On top of this, Media stocks in general are quite undervalued right now.

  • 12:27

Paramount, Comcast, and Warner Bros Discovery all cheap very cheap with serious earnings.

  • 12:33

Coming soon, per my recent poll of viewers, I’m going to analyze the streaming wars

Definition and meaning of DIVIDEND

What does "dividend mean?"

/ˈdivəˌdend/

noun
Money given to the owners of stock in a company.
