for today's video we're going to cover some  more hotels on Hotel Hell and determine  

if they're still open so without further  ado let's get right into the content guys  

four seasons in four seasons in owned  by a former construction worker named  

sandy mcdougall has 14 rooms in a dog  kennel spending 1.1 million dollars on  

the inn up to his appearance on the show  he's only losing money and can't pay his  

you can only compensate them by letting them stay  at the hotel for free which means less rooms for  

paying customers mcdougall's dog layla has free  range of the hotel and can be spotted running  

around in the lobby or dining room which doesn't  make patrons very happy desperately searching for  

a way to get out of this ruts the owner makes a  call to the legendary Gordon Ramsay for some eight  

when arriving he expects a luxury five-star  chain four seasons hotel though he's met with  

the polar opposite finding an empty reception and  an untidy dog bed as he enters ramsay is nothing  

but unimpressed meeting with the owner he takes  him to his unfinished room that has an unmade bed  

and empty beer cans lying around how luxurious  jokes aside the housekeeper aaron brings ramsay  

to a room that is ready and she reveals that the  inn has no affiliation with the four seasons hotel  

having seen enough the hotel hell host heads over  to the dining room and hopes that his experience  

will be better without any surprises the meals  ramsay tries are bland and unenjoyable so he  

goes into the kitchen to have a chat with the  staff supposedly the chef steve feels ashamed  

that he served ramsay a horrible meal and blames  it on mcdougall who has control over the menu  

and ingredients used staff members gwen aaron and  richard also agree that the management and owner  

are the biggest problem at the end later on ramsay  spent some time with mcdougall explained to him  

that he's an innkeeper and not a chef as well as  wakes him up by showing him how filthy the inn is  

after realizing his wrongdoings the famous chef  renamed the place to layla's riverside lodge made  

the reception area feel warm and welcoming created  a better menu for the restaurant redecorated the  

rooms and best of all revamped the dog kennels as  a result of the show bookings went significantly  

up and unlike most owners sandy received tons of  support from viewers like one reviewer on yelp who  

said you could just tell the owner really cares  about people and dogs and truly cares about us in  

most of the reviews are positive with the lodge  receiving a good three and a half stars across 17  

unique reviews if you want a pet friendly lodge to  stay in in vermont and see the fruits of ramsay's  

labor challenge for this episode ramsay visits  calumet in pipestone minnesota to help rena and  

vanda who are sisters that owned the place at one  point rina decides to leave for three months since  

she felt that the work was too overwhelming which  made it colossally difficult for banda to handle  

with the employees barely doing their job  it forced their parents to come work for  

them to keep the hotel up and running their  poor mother rita had to spend seven days  

working a week just to help them out which  called for the external aid of gordon ramsay  

upon his arrival the hotel hell host compares a  place to a prison and meets with a staff member  

named mandy who apologizes for being the  only one in the hotel show into his room  

he's disgusted with a moldy refrigerator and a  rail for a wardrobe found in his room already  

unhappy with his experience ramsay makes his way  to the restaurant and puts their food to the test  

the soupy orders comes back somehow smelling burnt  tastes disgusting and his fish dish was rock hard  

due to the horrible meal rina and vanna start to  get irate and threaten not to pay any of the staff  

speaking with mandy the owners butt in and tell  ramsay that she isn't committed which results in  

her exploding into a fit of anger talking about  how she works 60 hours a week with two children  

however chef ramsay disagrees with the  incompetent sisters and thinks that they  

don't deserve to own the place he genuinely thinks  that manny's a good general manager gathering  

some guests ramsay is told that the rooms are  run down and neglected as well as filled with  

dust which was a problem for one patron with  allergies calling the staff together later on  

rita and vanda revealed that they decided  to step down and let mandy run the hotel  

following this the hotel hellhouse revamped the  guest rooms updated the hotel's gym changed the  

menu and gave them new bedding and wardrobes ever  since ramsay left the reviews on yelp have mostly  

been negative though it can be attributed to the  ownership changes supposedly it was revealed on  

their facebook page that their revenue nearly  doubled after their appearance on the show  

being sold by the sisters back in 2015 the hotel  has sadly fallen into a state of disrepair and  

was condemned by the city of pipestone after a  fire inspection that found several violations  

of the state's fire code once they made changes  to these issues it was uncondemned in april of  

2020 and the current owner has called out the  city council for their treatment of the hotel  

was it deserved probably monticello hotel being  one of the oldest buildings in longview washington  

the monticello hotel was built in 1923 and is  owned by philip lovingvoss running it alongside  

his girlfriend and general manager ginger they  haven't had the best of success it doesn't quite  

help that some of the rooms are unavailable but  it's because loving foss and ginger fill some  

of the rooms with their possessions needing some  guidance on how to move forward they call out to  

the famous chef and rescuer gordon ramsay for some  help impressed by the hotel size ramsay notices a  

small motel next to it an advertisement for help  and a collection of cards which he assumes are for  

a car show meeting first with the receptionist  vanessa she tells the host that the cars in the  

car park all belong to the owner shown to his room  which is in the motel instead of the hotel ramsay  

gets irritated and demanded to get a room in the  actual hotel though the room he gets is completely  

hideous and the decor as well as the bedding  came directly from loving foss in ginger's home  

later he meets with the owners who explain that  the hotel is losing 30 to 35 000 a month which is  

400 000 a year that's horrible both owners  believe that the biggest problem is their  

staff were supposedly taking advantage of them  ready to grab some lunch he sits down at the  

hotel's restaurant and orders some food and  hopes that his experience will be different  

however everything that came back was clearly  either canned frozen or pre-packaged since they  

don't have enough money to buy ingredients  loving fox claims that his choice to use  

pre-packaged ingredients was for the betterment  of the hotel but it was only driving people away  

what's worse loving foss has a drinking problem  and consumes five to eight drinks on a daily basis  

as pointed out by his staff in hopes of knocking  some sense into the terrible owner he brings  

them along with his staff to his disgusting room  under a black light everyone is disturbed by the  

amount of bodily fluids and cigarette burns  that are around the room following a lot of  

emotional discussion loving foss agrees to get  help for his drinking and this is when ramsay  

was finally able to make some changes working  all night on giving the hotel a makeover they  

freed up four suites in the hotel gave them  new furniture and improved menu with fresh  

ingredients and loving foss received a sponsor  to help him with his drinking issues thanks to  

the changes ramsay made the monticello is still  going strong with more staff and a better pay  

although the reviews on tripadvisor were fairly  mixed many being disappointed that the restaurant  

and lounge were being closed down surprisingly  loving foss was sentenced to 90 days in prison in  

2016 for threatening a district court judge years  later after losing ownership the hotel closed down  

and was converted into an apartment building that  promoted communal living with shared facilities

for our last entry we're going to discuss the  hotel gordon ramsay decided to visit called  

meson de mesa in las cruces new mexico while on  his way to the hotel his gps directs him to the  

location listed by the owner but there is no sign  to indicate where it is eventually arriving the  

first thing he notices is the boring beige color  scheme and upon checking in he's forced to sign  

an agreement not to damage the venetian plaster  which offends him deeply shown around the hotel  

by the owner kelly he notices that the pool is  filthy and that the pool cleaner barely maintains  

it which makes him even more unimpressed later  speaking with the general manager xan he says  

that cali is the main problem with the hotel since  she doesn't let her staff do their job wanting to  

test the restaurants food ramsay thinks his meal  is absolutely disgusting but cali believes it's  

delicious eventually the hotel hellhouse goes into  the kitchen to meet with the staff and zan admits  

that there needs to be a lot of changes however  this admission sparks an altercation between the  

general manager and cali who fires him on the spot  which makes his wife quit as well to help callie  

realize her shortcomings he brings her into a  room filled with hotel guests to get their honest  

feedback most say that they would never come back  to the hotel since the waiver they had to sign is  

insulting the pool is dirty and so are the rooms  finally realizing that things need to turn around  

kelly agrees to listen to whatever ramsay is  suggesting making changes to the restaurants the  

current menu revamping the suite and cleaning and  redecorating the pool area things were going in  

the right direction keeping most of the changes  made kelly saw an increase in business after  

ramsay's visit but decided on selling it in march  of 2017 and it was renamed to hacienda de mesa
