  • 00:08

    Well, good morning Adventurers.

  • 00:10

That is right, today we are completing a huge project,

  • 00:13

the final one to make Clementine officially road-ready.

  • 00:17

    The shower.

  • 00:19

Now get out of here. The show ain't free,

  • 00:34

That's right guys, we're back in the garage

  • 00:37

because sadly, even though we went on a trip in our last video,

  • 00:40

    this RV not done.

  • 00:41

All good things must come to an end.

  • 00:43

Yes. If you caught that video, we did take our first trip,

  • 00:46

    we went to a campsite.

  • 00:47

Mainly, our goal there was just to kind of try everything out, see how everything felt,

  • 00:50

and mostly it was a wild success.

  • 00:52

However, you'll notice we did not take a shower

  • 00:54

and that's because the shower was far from done.

  • 00:56

However, our goal today is to finish

  • 00:59

for the most part this freaking shower,

  • 01:01

so next time we take it out, we're showering in this thing, dang.

  • 01:03

Yes, so this blue stuff is not...

  • 01:05

artsy or paint or anything like that.

  • 01:08

No. Well, we went through a bunch of different ideas of how to kind of seal these edges,

  • 01:12

and we were going to use clear sealant but we now don't think that's going to look very good.

  • 01:15

We were going to use trim, but then that's just a whole heap of work and probably not a great idea,

  • 01:19

so we're using this brown sealant right here.

  • 01:21

The key, though, is to make a very very straight line so it looks hopefully very professional,

  • 01:26

and tape to the rescue for that,

  • 01:28

because we cannot make a straight line with this thing to save our lives.

  • 01:31

So, here's our strategy. We got a caulk that's got kind of some brown tint to it.

  • 01:35

Ideally, we just want it to kind of mostly match the wood.

  • 01:37

    Most importantly, it's weatherproof.

  • 01:40

It's mold-free, it stretches up to 800 percent.

  • 01:43

Alright, so this should be the stuff for the job.

  • 01:45

I just got to do it. I'm kind of nervous to do it because if it looks like crap.

  • 01:48

We're kind of stuck with it.

  • 01:50

Now we can always put trim up, right?

  • 01:52

Yeah, I guess, but I don't want to have to do that.

  • 01:54

Hopefully this ends up being a good idea.

  • 01:56

Report back at the end of this video.

  • 01:58

    Alright, wish me luck y'all.

  • 02:00

    The time has come.

  • 02:01

    I've delayed long enough.

  • 02:16

We are definitely making some key errors.

  • 02:19

    Number one,

  • 02:20

this stuff skins over very quickly so i tried to do a bunch at first and then take the tape off,

  • 02:24

but it started pulling the sealant off with it.

  • 02:27

So you got to do a little bits at a time and then take the tape off. That's the key.

  • 02:30

Now that we're like 75 done, we know that.

  • 02:33

Yeah and we've messed up a bunch of our lines.

  • 02:41

I think we're getting the hang of this. We got a pretty clean line down here on the shower pan,

  • 02:45

which is arguably the most important spot,

  • 02:47

because it's very obvious if you make a mistake.

  • 02:50

    Not too bad.

  • 02:51

    - Yeah. - I think that will do.

  • 02:53

This is a very very messy job.

  • 02:56

    Yeah.

  • 02:58

Zero out of ten, do not recommend doing this.

  • 03:01

    No. not fun.

  • 03:02

Well, now that the shower is finally sealed,

  • 03:05

we get to put some pretty stuff in here.

  • 03:07

I made some custom trim to go around the outside of our shower.

  • 03:12

We made it kind of dark kind of to match the rest of the RV,

  • 03:15

cause we have these nice dark beams going through our ceiling

  • 03:18

    and in some other spots.

  • 03:21

That's fine, I meant to do that.

  • 03:23

    - Oh, shoot. - Right into the corner. Yeah.

  • 03:25

It did. Well, I messed up.

  • 03:27

I dropped that and it went right into the sealant.

  • 03:29

    - Whoops. - Oh man.

  • 03:32

So i know that you guys are probably not that impressed,

  • 03:34

they're like "great, just put the freaking trim on", but...

  • 03:36

i just have to complain for a little bit because y'all,

  • 03:39

this was very complicated to do. I had to notch out the countertop here,

  • 03:43

and then i had to notch out the shower down there,

  • 03:46

which the pan is very strange.

  • 03:48

Plus, all of these sizes are different,

  • 03:50

so I had to, you know, cut this at one size,

  • 03:53

cut this down there in another size.

  • 03:55

It took me a long time to get it right.

  • 03:57

And you did a great job, because it fits like a glove.

  • 03:59

But it's been done for days and I've been wanting to install it,

  • 04:02

and just see all my handy work come together and now I'm finally gonna do it!

  • 04:11

And just like that, the shower is almost done.

  • 04:14

Obviously we gotta put the faucet back on

  • 04:16

and there's a little more trim we gotta do around the bottom of the bathroom,

  • 04:19

but we are so close, so damn close.

  • 04:22

I feel like for us is always like "and just like, that it's almost done".

  • 04:25

It's almost done, and then six months later maybe it's really almost done,

  • 04:30

    and then it's done.

  • 04:31

But it looks really nice. I mean, we had to do some pretty complicated corners here and stuff,

  • 04:34

    Allison did that.

  • 04:36

And shaping around the shower pan down there.

  • 04:38

I had to redo this like three different times.

  • 04:41

Although I'm impressed that it only took me three times.

  • 04:44

    Glad to be done, y'all.

  • 04:45

If I never have to say the word trim again, it'll be too soon.

  • 05:05

    Check it, you guys.

  • 05:06

We made some custom gold trim

  • 05:08

for our little kitchen fridge cabinet.

  • 05:11

Our intention was to never have to trim this out.

  • 05:13

We actually thought this was going to be a standalone piece and it was so beautiful,

  • 05:17

but as you can see here, we made some mistakes.

  • 05:19

Yeah, we made the countertop way too short,

  • 05:22

but we had already finished it all off and we weren't about to recut it and redo it, so.

  • 05:25

Yeah, we tried our best to make it work and we just could not get it,

  • 05:29

    so this is our fix.

  • 05:30

We're going to put these really pretty

  • 05:32

    gold trim pieces here,

  • 05:35

    that match our...

  • 05:36

Windows, so that's gonna cover up all of our mistakes and make it beautiful.

  • 05:40

Yeah. So these two pieces go on the end like so,

  • 05:43

and make these nice little gold end caps,

  • 05:45

and then we just have a piece of pine that goes here.

  • 05:47

This is actually the same as the trim that we have all throughout the kitchen.

  • 05:50

I don't know, I think it looks kind of cool. It looks like a really custom piece.

  • 05:53

Maybe it's a little awkward. I don't know, you guys tell us.

  • 05:55

    Oh, I'm sure you will.

  • 05:57

And we really like the gold, you guys. I think I've decided gold might be my favorite color.

  • 06:00

    Is that weird? I'm fancy.

  • 06:02

    I love gold.

  • 06:09

    Alright, success so far.

  • 06:12

We love these clamps, they're from Irwin

  • 06:15

and they are so freaking versatile.

  • 06:17

You can literally flip them around and push out like this.

  • 06:19

You can almost always find a way to clamp pretty much anything.

  • 06:22

We've got more finishing touches you guys.

  • 06:25

We have this nice beautiful piece of oak tree that we stained and polied,

  • 06:29

and look how well it matches the floor.

  • 06:31

We've been puzzling over how to do this transition part for a long time,

  • 06:34

because I actually have a conduit of wires that runs through here

  • 06:37

and i didn't want that to be super obvious, but...

  • 06:39

we basically just built up some wood here for this to fasten into,

  • 06:42

and then the wires kind of fit snugly underneath that,

  • 06:44

so i think it's going to work. Mostly, it looks a lot more finished than it did previously.

  • 06:53

What you got cooking over here?

  • 06:56

Y'al,l this is a project that...

  • 06:58

I'm like one of the most...

  • 07:01

A project I'm really excited about.

  • 07:02

One of the most exciting projects.

  • 07:04

These are the original faux leather pieces

  • 07:08

that were in the front cab.

  • 07:10

I guess they just kept you from bonking your head on stuff and covered up some unsightly places,

  • 07:14

but we've had these out for a year and a half and we...

  • 07:17

I didn't think they were gonna fit back in,

  • 07:19

and we fit them today and they do,

  • 07:21

but they've been sitting in the corner of the garage for a year and a half and they are nasty.

  • 07:26

We did have to modify it a bit. We needed more of a notch out here,

  • 07:29

    so we just...

  • 07:30

took the old staples out, cut this back and put some new ones in.

  • 07:33

    That was super easy.

  • 07:34

Yeah, but they're so fun and I'm so glad that we have...

  • 07:38

someting from original RV back in there.

  • 07:42

We've been staring at this nasty exposed wood for a long long time,

  • 07:47

but the time has come finally to cover this monstrosity up.

  • 07:50

    No longer.

  • 07:51

So this basically fits in here, just like so.

  • 07:54

It covers all this nasty stuff up.

  • 07:56

    - Yeah. - Perfect.

  • 08:01

These are the final pieces of the puzzle.

  • 08:04

These are actually leftover from this old overhead cab.

  • 08:07

These pieces used to sit here and here,

  • 08:10

but we are going to repurpose them.

  • 08:12

So, previously there was a big cut out here, so there was nothing in this area.

  • 08:15

You kind of filled it with a little piece of the bed.

  • 08:17

But now you can see we have a big hunk of wood here that needs to be covered up.

  • 08:19

    So our plan...

  • 08:20

was to put these right here.

  • 08:22

    Like squanch them in there.

  • 08:24

Unfortunately, these were a little bit too long, so we had to modify these.

  • 08:27

This is our first time doing any form of upholstery,

  • 08:29

    but it was surprisingly easy.

  • 08:31

All we had to do was take the staples out,

  • 08:33

then we peeled some of this leather back,

  • 08:35

then we cut the wood down to the size we needed to,

  • 08:38

bent it back over and re-stapled it.

  • 08:39

And we actually misplaced the original hardware, so we made these little fancy gold

  • 08:44

little washers and screws that we painted our signature gold.

  • 08:49

It's gonna look pretty good, I think. Time to install.

  • 08:51

Boy, is it gonna be awesome, cause I'm so ready to cover all this nasty crap.

  • 09:01

    Whoopsie... that's alright, it's fine.

  • 09:19

    Y'all, our shower is done,

  • 09:21

it is watertight and ready to be showered in.

  • 09:26

    Well said.

  • 09:27

Yes, so we sealed everything in there and we even reinstalled our shower head,

  • 09:32

but now we have to test that to make sure that we reinstalled it correctly

  • 09:36

and it's not going to leak on us.

  • 09:38

So, we came over to my parents' house to use the host.

  • 09:40

We can fill up all of our tanks and do that,

  • 09:43

and it's going to go just as well as the bathroom sink did. No leaks, right?

  • 09:48

Who's ready for the first shower ever

  • 09:50

    in old Clementine?

  • 09:52

    You are!

  • 09:54

I know why I'm always so nervous that something's gonna go wrong.

  • 09:57

Theoretically, before we put this fixture on, we tested all this plumbing back here

  • 10:01

and water was flowing with no leaks or anything like that.

  • 10:03

so the real potential issue is just this joint here,

  • 10:05

but I sealed that up pretty good

  • 10:06

and the worst thing can happen is it's just gonna leak a little here. So,

  • 10:09

you know. it can't be that bad.

  • 10:11

So the valves are officially open, so we have water flowing to here.

  • 10:14

I don't know which one of these is on, this is like a dual purpose shower head thing.

  • 10:19

    Let's try it.

  • 10:23

    Why is this so scary?

  • 10:26

Oh shoot, did they come out right there?

  • 10:29

The water came out down here.

  • 10:30

    That's not ideal.

  • 10:31

What is this? This is like, the thing itself is messed up.

  • 10:34

    It kind of works.

  • 10:36

There's a leak right here though, that kind of sucks.

  • 10:38

    - No! - What's that about?

  • 10:40

We've never actually used the shower head, so my assessment is that it's broken,

  • 10:45

because it's leaking right down here, and this is just like the seal internally in the shower head.

  • 10:49

    Water's flowing, check that out.

  • 10:51

Theoretically, you could take a shower in here, though.

  • 10:53

You just have a little leak down there which kind of sucks, but hey, it works.

  • 10:56

    It works!

  • 10:57

We got the rain shower kind of working.

  • 10:59

I think it's losing too much pressure down here,

  • 11:01

so it's not one to come out of there.

  • 11:02

Okay so the rain shower might not really work too well.

  • 11:05

It's happening, we're putting up the curtain.

  • 11:08

Sadly, our actual curtain rod that we want is not in yet,

  • 11:11

so we're just borrowing this one for a second.

  • 11:14

But this is our final shower curtain.

  • 11:16

    - It is, I'm so excited. - It looks pretty cool.

  • 11:19

This was like one of the first things I purchased.

  • 11:22

I was looking around on West Elm site,

  • 11:24

and I came across this beauty,

  • 11:26

and they had it in a wooden shower and I was like

  • 11:28

    "it's perfect!",

  • 11:29

and it is, it's so perfect!

  • 11:31

    You know what that means.

  • 11:32

    Oh it's shower time, baby.

  • 11:35

    Shower time sexy music.

  • 11:58

    What, my feet get cold.

  • 12:00

But now i get to warm up

  • 12:02

in our brand new hot shower.

  • 12:04

That was her big idea to do a bunch of socks in that scene.

  • 12:06

    Eric really disliked it,

  • 12:08

but you'll have to let me know. Did you think it was funny?

  • 12:10

Because i thought it was hilarious.

  • 12:11

    Alright, the moment of truth.

  • 12:14

A human being is going to shower in here.

  • 12:16

It feels so wrong, I feel like I shouldn't be in here doing this.

  • 12:19

We still don't have our towel rack up either, so...

  • 12:22

    let's get this over here.

  • 12:26

Gosh, I feel like I'm in a a saun or a ski lodge or something.

  • 12:31

    This is so wild.

  • 12:33

    Look while i'm showering

  • 12:35

in my own shower that I built.

  • 12:36

    Nice job.

  • 12:38

Almost forgot, gotta have the exhaust fan on.

  • 12:40

    That's the key.

  • 12:42

Oops, I did it again to your heart, got lost

  • 12:47

    in this game, oh baby.

  • 12:50

    Alright, you're done.

  • 12:56

    Huge success, shower works.

  • 12:58

    - Yeah, first shower. - It worked.

  • 13:00

We've done our first everything in here, I think.

  • 13:03

    And it all works.

  • 13:04

So, we don't want to give away too much, but the holidays are coming,

  • 13:08

and you all know we love some Christmas markets

  • 13:09

and those have not been running the past couple years, so...

  • 13:13

I think we're gonna have to head to Europe and see those.

  • 13:15

But before we do that, obviously we gotta take some trips

  • 13:18

in old Clementine now that she's ready for the round.

  • 13:21

So that's kind of our next plan.

  • 13:24

Just to do some trips around the area.

  • 13:27

We have some really interesting stays we're wanting to do.

  • 13:30

Then we'll pop over to Europe.

  • 13:32

Stay tuned to figure out where we're gonna go.

  • 13:34

And then we'll be back and living in Clementine on the road indefinitely.

  • 13:39

Yeah, I think you know, we're gonna stop and do little projects here and there,

  • 13:42

because there are some final touches we want to do, we really want to customize where all the plates go,

  • 13:46

all the silverware, all the little accoutrements.

  • 13:48

We want like a set spot, so that we're not battening everything down every time we hit the road.

  • 13:51

That stuff's gonna take a long time, so it's gonna be an ongoing thing.

  • 13:54

It'll be fun to kind of put it all together yeah while traveling.

  • 13:57

We're sick of staying put and working in a garage,

  • 13:59

so we might all do that on the road,

  • 14:01

    while we're traveling,

  • 14:02

    because she's ready now.

  • 14:04

Oh my God, she's officially ready!

  • 14:06

    I can't believe it!

  • 14:08

    Freaking out. Goodbye, Adventurers.

  • 14:10

We'll see you on the road.
