how was that motorbike ride it was good until when you tried to turned in to park then that

freaked me out

so the traffic here is weird because there seems to be like no rules and it's really

chaotic but it also is kind of calm like people drive pretty slowly and they never get mad

even if they start honking at you it's like hello it's like not like they're angry at

you or something the honking is more like just wanna let you know i'm here yeah so uh

be a little careful friendly honk driving in vietnam is all about avoiding obstacles

yeah and you have to be pretty confident yeah if you hesitate that's when accidents happen

okay let's try this coffee place

and i'll have one vietnamese americano so 45 000 for coconut coffee and 76 000

i still have to get used to the currency here it's hard being millionaires they don't have

coins here right i don't think so i think they have the white bills or like the thousand

bills or something small bills

that's my vietnamese americano it's vietnamese so i think it's going to be super strong i

think so this is my coconut coffee and even though i know in hanoi the most popular coffee

is egg coffee but coconut coffee is my favorite how is it this is so delicious it has like

a roasted flavor that is different from some of the other coconut coffees you convinced

me that it is so delicious i think you have to come and try like what's this cong cafe

i feel like i'm gonna have one of these like every day when we're in vietnam so refreshing

i feel like vlogging in vietnam is gonna be a challenge because the noise pollution here

is insane you hear the traffic noise the honking people playing music and the bass

and the fan everything here makes noise it all helps to create the ambience yeah it's

so nice to be in a place that is super lively actually there's a lot of people and everyone

is like out enjoying themselves eating and drinking and gathering with friends and we're

not talking about like expats it's like local people are out and enjoying themselves and

it's really awesome

it's very different it's good but it's not strong it's warm

it tastes like chinese herbal medicine yeah not my favorite this is much better don't

worry we're gonna go have other coffees i feel like our tolerance for caffeine is going

to be way higher by the time we leave vietnam

one thing we noticed is that the weather is so pleasant what's the what's the temperature

like honestly it feels like 25 to me because it's so pleasant to be out here but it's actually

30 degrees you can see just across from us there are tons of cafes and they are open

air too like outdoor seating and there's people sitting there i feel bad you didn't enjoy

your coffee as much as i did it's not that bad it's it's just okay but there are no shortage

of cafes in hanoi so you can choose the next one okay i know exactly where to go

i think the hardest part about this is trying to find space to put the notes on the wall

like there's there's no gap there's already like notes on top of notes you might have

so the area we are in is the old quarter and we are right by this lake called hoan kiem

lake i'm probably butchering like all the words here really don't know how to pronounce

them but it's also called sword lake that's that's what i know and it is a saturday today

so we can see tons of people here enjoying the weekend enjoying some of the festivities

happening we haven't seen this many people in a long time it's pretty lively here in

hanoi

you cannot keep your eyes off the road here but you also have to be careful with your

cameras and your phones too because the bikes can come by pretty closely and grab them or

that's what we've been told by the hotel yeah we got like a manual from the hotel you have

it with you yeah let's see it says crossing the street is one of the first things you

need to learn when you come to vietnam in general not just hanoi and our hotel prepared

us for it they gave us specific advice to how to cross roads it says first you have

to be relaxed and be self-confident look two ways of traffic keep your speed steady with

a slow walk and most importantly never walk back sounds pretty easy okay i'm gonna put

this to the test right now

that was easy because it was a short crosswalk but it's actually really good advice slow

and steady and don't walk back because once i pass them they go so if i walk back i'd

probably get hit but now we have to go to the other side

i recommend you try the number one it includes everything you need to try okay so we have

bun cha and two more fried pork and traditional spring roll because we don't really know the

city really well yet we are making all our choices based on google maps so this place

is called bun cha ta hanoi and it has over 2 000 reviews 4.3 stars so we are pretty sure

it's gonna be very delicious i trust all those two thousand people but this is just the first

of many bun chas we're having so if we find an even yummier place we will show you guys

in another video and that is one of the reasons we chose to come to hanoi because of the delicious

food we're gonna be trying bun cha tonight there will be a lot of banh mis a lot of pho

beef and chicken what else spring rolls yeah the spring rolls in hanoi are the best they're

like extra thin and crispy so today i'm gonna show you how to eat bun cha like local people

yeah so first we have garlic and chili in here to make the food more flavorful i recommend

you add lots of garlic and chili into the bowl of soup you can add a noodle little by

little inside you pair together with some fresh spring roll dip one by one inside and

eat all of them together

what's in there yeah so we have the lettuce we have those purple shiso this is really

famous in vietnamese and japanese cuisine as well yeah and this is a basil yeah wow

so good yeah yeah eat it together with some noodles maybe in your country slurping like

making sound while eating it means like impolite right but in vietnam if you make noise while

eating it means you enjoy the food yeah local will be very happy

one of the most delicious things i ever had in my entire life

so meaty and juicy and once you soak into the fish sauce it like absorbs all the flavor

i love all the herbs absolutely love the herbs

i think vietnamese food is healthier than thai food do you think like i think in thai

food most of the time you don't eat that much vegetables maybe there is some cucumbers on

the side or something but the amount of vegetables you get with vietnamese food is like much

much more a basket full wow oh shiso is definitely my favorite i don't even know how to describe

that taste because it's it's so like earthy it has that the scent of the lemon smell and

basil leaf but it's not sour thank you so much for visiting our restaurant today i have

a small gift for you this is our traditional homemade rice wine we call it happy water

it makes you happy all day oh wow we're already happy i think this will be very happy water

met along the way have been so friendly the hotel staff oh yeah all the restaurant that

we have been to amy yeah amy very lovely and they have a great sense of humor so it's perfect

because it's like you you get along with vietnamese people really well yeah guess how much all
