it's p from cheap homesteading and today we're going to be working on the massey 50.
you know this year we really haven't had much snow so i haven't had to use the mass
50 very much and um i mean we really have this much snow on the ground which isn't normal for us
so i've kind of let it go let it go um the forecast changed last week and it started showing
25 to 35 centimeters of snow and now there's some reports that it could be even 40 centimeters of
snow which is a good dumping and i thought i'm gonna get out there make sure the tractor runs and
everything's working so i get out there the tractor fires up really nice and the hitch
won't lift the blade won't lift and i'm like oh no so i pulled the dipstick it was milky white
i knew right away that it's probably just frozen up when you have white oil and the water got in
the oil and the water molecules freeze and it just makes the oil really really thick so i'm
guessing that's what the problem was so i kind of limped the tractor into the shop left the heat on
overnight so it's thawed out so i think what we're gonna do is drain the oil i'll put in some older
uh trans hydraulic in it try to flush it out and then we'll drain that then we'll refill it again
and then we should be good to go so that's what we're gonna do today so let's go on most of the
masses if you got white oil um it's got water in it it's probably come in through the shifter boots
it's a real common problem i always put a feed bag over top of my shifters and it normally works
good but last summer i didn't use the tractor for a while and then the wind got up blew it
off and then we had a big rainstorm and i think that's when the water got into the transmission
so when you have white white oil it gets super super thick the last little bit we have had some
real bitterly cold weather minus 35 minus 40 with the wind chill uh it is super super cold and when
