Aputure MC. Aputure have been teasing the MC since NAB earlier in the year, and its drawn up a lot
of excitement, and for good reason, the MC is packed full of features, it sits at a very
reasonable price point, and after a long wait, it is finally here.
So the MC is the first RGB light that Aputure have released. They’ve teased larger RGB
panels since IBC 2018 which haven’t yet been released and we’ll be covering those
once we can get our hands on one. But for now, this is the beginning of the RGB offering
from Aputure, and if you’re familiar with Aputures smaller lights, you may notice that
is very similar to the M9 and MX. They share a very similar compact form factor and are
great to hide away in shot, or use as a top light. The MC has a build in battery which
will last between 2 and 15 hours and is charged via USB-C and is the first Aputure light to
support PD fast charging and wireless charging, as well as magnets on the back to allow for
the MC to be easily mounted which are great touches for such a small light.
Unlike its siblings however, the MC is a fully capable RGB.W.W light, will all the bells
and whistles that you would expect from a modern RGB light. You can of course operate
it in white light mode, there you can adjust the colour temperature from 3200, to 6500
Kelvin. There is then a HSI mode, alongside an effects mode with a range of effects such
as lightning, party, fireworks, firelight, TV and more. The light also comes with this
silicone diffuser which easily snaps onto the light and does a fairly good job at softening
